The Friends We Made Before Life Got Complicated

There's a popular Yoruba proverb that says "Ogun ọmọdé ò lè ṣeré fún ogún ọdún", meaning twenty children can't play together for twenty years, this proverb is a very relatable reality we all can attest to given the nature of the world and life unpredictability, whereby a group of twenty students who grew up together might not make it up together for twenty years and that's due to different kind of significances, such as death, relocation, illness, change in ideology and much more to name but few. However despite the fact that life is full of uncertainty, still we've seen a lot of friendship and relationships stand the test of time and each time I see this, I kind of have a heartwarming feeling as I imagine how much such people have gone through to have been together for that long. And that's why today I'll be talking about childhood friendships, if I had any childhood friendship that's still active till date or if not, I'd also reminisce about my childhood friendship experiences, so without further ado let's get to them.

Like I said above, seeing a friendship that has withstand the test of time is always ab amazing sight to behold for me and when looking into my life, I'd say that I actually don't have any childhood friendship that still exists till date and that's due to a lots of reasons, first on the list is because we relocated from the place I spent majority of my childhood and till date I've only visited that place once after the relocation, meaning I've never got to meet anyone I had had childhood with, because during our time, there's isn't social media and the likes, secondly being an introvert I don't usually make friends with people so deeply and so it's kind of easy to just move on from friendship that isn't really active again due to distance or something else. However despite the fact that I don't have any friends that we had childhood together, I can say that the longest existing friendship I had going on till date was made during my undergraduate days at the university and that friendship has lasted sixteen years, and I hope and pray we get to spend more years together.

The memories with my friend's made during my university days has been amazing, inspiring and helpful to me in many ways because we met when we all first tasted real freedom in our life, also it was a time we first get to really Hustle and the likes and I remember how this friendship I had with my friends like, Dare, Samuel, Dele, Micheal, Wale and the likes help each of us to improve academically, we also hustle together, I remember how we use to work as servers at parties during the weekend to earn some cash, not to get working as a clown to entertain students in schools among many others, fast forward to today, we're still friends and always encourage and help each other to progress in life.

Talking about some of my childhood experiences or memories, I can vividly remember the names of my childhood friends like Niyi, Ridwan, and Chinedu and the memories we had together. I remember it was with these guys I threw my first banger; it was with them I played center field football, and we even got punished together by our parents each time we committed a collective offense. It's just heartwarming having to reminisce on all these, and I hope to build solid relationships with the friends I currently have so we can grow old together and once again look back and reflect on how far we've come.
