Hanukkah in Jerusalem - exploring Nachlaot neighborhood for the Hanukkah candles (series of photographs).

Hanukkah lights in Jerusalem, Nachlaot neighborhood. Yesterday night.
This neighborhood is much more friendly than for example Mea Shearim, where walking and taking pictures during the Friday evening when Shabbat begins is absolutely not a good idea.
The Nachlaot neighborhood was almost empty. Here and there I met kids playing with their bicycles and looking at me like on some Alian.

I found a lot of candles. Every family has its own box. Every box of candles is different in form, size, mood, and kind of candles as you can see in my pictures. I willed to photograph people lighting these candles, but it always happening a little bit earlier, when still there is weak ambient light and the candles are much less interesting due to this light. Maybe the next year I will try to do that.

Beautiful images. Not at all what I expected and unlike anything I've ever seen In the US, you see menorahs, not boxes.

I love candlelight photography; it's got such a warm feeling behind it, and gives such great shadows. Really nice done.
