Waiting for the Ferry - Wistful Washington
One normal part of life for people living around the Puget (pronounced PEW-git) Sound in Washington State is the ferries. They take you across parts of the Sound (and/or the Strait of Juan de Fuca) where it's not really practical to be building bridges. It also saves you the long journey around the bottom of the Sound if you're in places like Port Townsend.
Of course, part of that ferry life includes waiting... and waiting... If you're a tourist (as we were this summer), it's also a good time to try to capture images of the various boats on the water...
This sailing boat was taking advantage of the calm waters, one of the few good things on a day with so much fog that it was very seriously affecting my ability to bully my camera into taking decent pictures. Normally, I love overcast skies for photography as the cloud sometimes brings out the colors vibrantly. Not this day.
Here, the sailboat is passing the ferry dock (no ferry yet.)

Looks like quite a cloudy day :)
Most of it was coastal fog which burns off as the day moves on. It really messed with my photography more than I had expected! The fog gave everything a grainy texture which was frustrating, especially when I didn't know how bad it was at the time!
