Aún no lograba entenderlo totalmente.

English:

It was 8:30 P.M. and I was running very late.

I had arranged a meeting but in the rush, I forgot my documents. I used to carry them with me in case the police tried to arrest me. Something that was recurrent since I got into trouble without having committed them. They would stop me for no reason and without giving me any kind of explanation.

Over the years I have suffered all kinds of abuse from them. There seemed to be no end to it and it became almost normal. It is something that people of color suffer on a daily basis, but we have no choice but to resign ourselves to it and try to get on with our lives.

The reason I had to meet this stranger, about whom I knew practically nothing, was to buy some medicine.

My grandfather was very ill and had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. There was no cure as such, but there was a possibility of alleviating the symptoms or slowing down the rate at which the disease was developing.

After running and walking down the stairs to the subway I arrived totally exhausted. I looked around but there was no one there except for a figure inside a train that was about to leave very soon. Thinking that he had left and added to the anxiety of the moment, I decided to quickly go inside to see if it was him.

There were a few people but not as strange as the one at the back of the carriage. He was wearing dark clothes and had a hat that covered part of his face. When I approached him he never tried to look me in the eye and ignored what I said to him. Something that made me very uneasy and I felt my body react with exaltation.

As I tried to leave he mentioned my name, but not only that, he also started giving details about me and my grandfather. Things are so precise that it seemed like he had been following me everywhere for a long time. At that precise moment, I got scared and as soon as I wanted to run away he grabbed my arm tightly and in my hand he put the medicines I needed and then he disappeared from my sight as he left the carriage.

Three months later I received a call from someone who appeared sinister. His voice was totally distorted and he was expressing condolences for my grandfather, now dead. However, those extra three months of life were to be made up for.

I was being manipulated by a serial killer who was an ex-cop. Something I was reminded of daily with notes appearing at every place I went that said I had to choose between the strength of justice or the weakness of my mind. I still could not fully understand it.

Today I chose to do justice but that would lead me to become someone who has blood dripping from his hands.

I will not be the same but at the same time, I could never be who I wanted to be. There is no doubt about that.
