En esta ocasión, los invito a acompañarme a explorar los murales del centro histórico de la ciudad. Estos se encuentran en la calle Sucre, la avenida Aristiguieta en dirección a Cumaná y en la plaza Vargas, ubicada entre ambas calles, frente al río Manzanares. Los murales son coloridos, y el primer grupo representa el centro histórico. Muestran una calle colonial con casas coloridas que destacan por sus techos, puertas y ventanas, características de esa época, donde las puertas y ventanas eran altas y los techos triangulares cubiertos de tejas. Frente a las casas, también se aprecian hermosas jardineras con flores de colores. El mural cubre una gran pared frente al Convento de San Francisco.
Tomé varias fotos para observar los detalles de esta llamativa y colorida pintura, que, según información proporcionada por un residente, fue pintada en 2024 para el aniversario de la ciudad. Junto al mural se encuentra el nombre del distrito, o zona, conocido como el centro histórico.
This time, I invite you to join me in exploring the murals in the city's historic center. These are located on Sucre Street, Aristeguieta Avenue towards Cumaná, and in Vargas Square, which lies between Sucre Street and Aristeguieta Avenue, facing the Manzanares River. The murals are colorful, and the first group depicts the historic district. They show a colonial street with colorful houses that stand out for their roofs, doors, and windows, characteristic of that era, where doors and windows were tall, and roofs were triangular and covered with tiles. In front of the houses, there were also beautiful planters with colorful flowers. The mural covers a large wall facing the San Francisco Convent.
I took several photos to observe the details of this striking and colorful painting, which, according to information provided by one of the residents, was painted in 2024 for the city's anniversary. Next to this mural is the name of the district, or area, called the historic center.
Mientras caminaba hacia la calle Sucre y la avenida Aristiguieta, me encontré con una hermosa plaza que destaca por sus impresionantes murales. En la pared principal, se pueden apreciar diversas flores, un río, el árbol Araguaney, una guacamaya, una joven indígena, un turpial y una orquídea. La plaza, como se ve en la fotografía, cuenta con senderos y jardineras, y el mural inferior presenta colores burdeos y símbolos que representan a los pueblos indígenas, con diversas líneas que forman figuras y símbolos.
A continuación, se observa un paisaje ribereño con diversas flores, árboles y una hermosa y llamativa mariposa que combina azul, amarillo, negro, naranja y rojo. Está posada en una rama, quizás extrayendo néctar. Le siguen dos hermosas flores amarillas y muchas hojas verdes. Después, vemos la guacamaya y una vista parcial de la joven indígena rodeada de hojas. Lleva maquillaje tradicional compuesto por diversas líneas y figuras similares a las que se ven en la parte superior e inferior del mural. Siguiendo por esta calle, encontramos otro mural con la bandera venezolana y varios jóvenes. Además de los murales, la plaza también cuenta con plantas ornamentales, incluyendo Bugambilias. Me sorprendió la cantidad de Bugambiliass en esta zona, que contrastan maravillosamente con el paisaje y los murales. Las jardineras son circulares, de hormigón, y en la parte superior hay plantas de hojas moradas. Estas plantas también abundan en el Parque Guaiquerí y embellecen el jardín con su llamativo follaje.
As I walked towards Sucre Street and Aristiguieta Avenue, I came across a lovely plaza that stands out for its striking murals. On the main wall, you can see various flowers, a river, the Araguaney tree, a macaw, a young indigenous woman, a troupial (a type of oriole), and an orchid. The plaza, as you can see in the photograph, has walkways and planters, and the mural at the bottom features the colors burgundy and symbols representing indigenous peoples, with various lines forming figures and symbols.
Next, we have a view of the riverside landscape with various flowers, trees, and a beautiful, striking butterfly that combines blue, yellow, black, orange, and red. It's perched on one of the branches, perhaps extracting nectar. Following this are two beautiful yellow flowers and many green leaves. Next, we see the macaw and a partial view of the indigenous girl surrounded by leaves. She wears traditional makeup made up of various lines and figures similar to those seen at the top and bottom of the wall. Continuing along this street, we find another mural with the Venezuelan flag and several young people. In addition to the murals, the plaza also features ornamental plants, including bougainvillea. I was struck by the number of bougainvilleas in this area, which contrast beautifully with the landscape and the murals. The planters are circular, made of concrete, and on top are plants with purple leaves. These plants are also abundant in the Guaiquerí Park area and beautify the garden with their striking foliage.
Al final del recorrido, encontramos otro mural, este repleto de flores rosas y amarillas, con un hermoso hibisco que emerge de un pequeño bosque, destacando por sus vibrantes colores. A continuación, observamos otra vista de la plaza, los bancos y el mural que representa a la niña indígena, el turpial venezolano y la orquídea. Cabe mencionar que el turpial y la orquídea, junto con el araguaney, forman parte del patrimonio natural de Venezuela.
Luego, contemplamos el río, las plantas y palmeras que lo rodean, y numerosas flores rosas. El río, las rocas circundantes y las flores rosas o apamate son visibles en la parte superior. Se aprecia la guacamaya con sus llamativos colores amarillo, azul y rojo, y su imponente pico. Finalmente, vemos una cadena amarilla entre pequeñas flores rosas. Sin duda, estos murales embellecen la ciudad y sus espacios, otorgándoles un estilo diferente y acogedor para quienes disfrutan admirando el arte. Desconocía la existencia de estos murales, y mientras hacía recados por esta zona de la ciudad, me detuve a observarlos y aprender sobre ellos. Cada uno representa la cultura, la identidad y las tradiciones del estado Sucre, así como de Cumaná, la capital, conocida como la ciudad pionera del continente americano. At the end of the tour, we find another mural, this one filled with pink and yellow flowers and a beautiful hibiscus emerging from a small grove of plants, its vibrant colors making it stand out. Next, we have another view of the plaza, the benches, and the mural featuring the indigenous girl, the Venezuelan troupial, and the orchid. It's worth mentioning that the troupial and the orchid, along with the Araguaney tree, are part of Venezuela's natural heritage.
Then we have a view of the river, the plants and palm trees growing around it, and many pink flowers. The river, the surrounding rocks, and the pink or abamate flowers are visible at the top. There's a view of the macaw with its striking yellow, blue, and red colors and its imposing beak. Then there's a yellow chain nestled among small pink flowers. These murals undoubtedly beautify the city and its spaces, giving them a different and welcoming style for those who enjoy admiring art. I didn't know about these murals, and while running errands in this part of the city, I stopped to observe and learn about them. Each one represents the culture, identity, and traditions of Sucre State, as well as Cumaná, the capital, known as the firstborn city of the American continent.
