Un oasis en medio de la ciudad: Caminando por el histórico "Parque Guaiquerí"[Esp-Eng]
Hoy comparto una visita al Parque Guaiquerí. Situado en el centro de la ciudad, en la avenida Arismendi, el parque cuenta con instalaciones para caminar y hacer ejercicio, lo que permite a los visitantes disfrutar de una conexión con la naturaleza. Recientemente se han incorporado a la entrada elementos decorativos elaborados con materiales reciclados, como neumáticos y botellas, lo que confiere al parque un estilo único y, al mismo tiempo, reutiliza materiales para embellecer el acceso a este popular lugar.
El parque ofrece diversos senderos y caminos, así como una variedad de árboles, entre ellos mangos, palmeras y tamarindos, creando un espacio agradable para los amantes de las actividades al aire libre en un entorno natural.
Al entrar en el parque, tomé uno de los senderos para pasear y admirar el hermoso paisaje; aunque estamos en la estación seca, el parque luce encantador y la vegetación se mantiene verde —quizás las pocas lluvias caídas ayudaron a que las plantas conservaran su hermoso tono verdoso.
Este lugar también destaca por su limpieza; las áreas recreativas reciben mantenimiento y limpieza periódicos. Siempre que lo visito, aprovecho para caminar, disfrutar de la brisa fresca y del canto de los pájaros, y buscar animales como las ardillas. En esta ocasión, sin embargo, no vi ninguna; estas pequeñas y rápidas amigas suelen esconderse entre las ramas, y no me crucé con ninguna. Aun así, dar un paseo matutino por el parque fue una experiencia maravillosa.
Today, I’m sharing a visit to Guaiquerí Park. Located in the city center on Arismendi Avenue, the park features facilities for walking and exercising, allowing visitors to enjoy connecting with nature. Decorative elements made from recycled materials—such as tires and bottles—have recently been added to the entrance; this gives the park a unique style while repurposing materials to beautify the gateway to this popular spot.
The park offers various walkways leading to different trails, as well as a variety of trees—including mango, palm, and tamarind—creating a pleasant space for those who love outdoor activities in a natural setting.
Upon entering the park, I headed down one of the paths for a walk and to admire the beautiful scenery; even though it is the dry season, the park looks lovely and the plants remain green—perhaps the few rains that have fallen helped the vegetation retain its beautiful green hue.
This space is also notable for its cleanliness; the recreational areas undergo regular cleaning and maintenance. Whenever I visit, I take the opportunity to walk, enjoy the cool breeze and the sound of birdsong, and look for animals like squirrels. On this occasion, however, I didn't spot any; these quick little friends tend to hide among the branches, and I didn't cross paths with a single one. Still, taking a morning stroll through the park grounds was a lovely experience.
Además de los senderos, el parque cuenta con casas de estilo churuata para reunirse en plena naturaleza. Construidos con hormigón, piedra y madera, están rematados con techos de lona roja; su diseño sencillo resulta ideal para la zona, ya que carecen de paredes altas y permiten que el viento circule libremente desde los cuatro costados. En el centro hay una mesa de ajedrez de hormigón con el tablero integrado. Me gustó este diseño por su sencillez y aire tradicional, pues armoniza a la perfección con el entorno del parque. También encontré varios frutos de almendrón en el suelo; seguramente habrá aves cerca disfrutando de ellos.
Siguiendo el camino, llegamos a los kioscos de artesanía. Fabricados en madera, cuentan con dos ventanas frontales, una puerta lateral y un techo de lona roja con frontones triangulares. Estos quioscos se utilizan generalmente para exposiciones y muestras durante temporadas específicas; su diseño simple les confiere el aspecto de una pequeña casa en el bosque.
In addition to the walking paths, the park features churuata-style gazebos for gatherings amidst nature. Constructed from concrete, stone, and wood, they are topped with red canvas roofs; their simple design is ideal for the area, as they lack high walls and allow the wind to flow through from all four sides. In the center, there is a concrete chess table complete with a built-in board. I liked this design for its simplicity and traditional feel, as it blends perfectly with the park's surroundings. I also found several almendrón fruits on the ground—surely there are birds nearby enjoying them.
Continuing along the path, we come across the artisan kiosks. Made of wood, they feature two front windows, a side door, and a red canvas roof with triangular gables. These kiosks are generally used for exhibitions and displays during specific seasons; their simple design gives them the appearance of a small house in the woods.
En cuanto a las actividades recreativas, el parque cuenta con canchas de baloncesto, voleibol y fútbol situadas a la derecha de la entrada, rodeadas de diversa vegetación.
Para el esparcimiento y disfrute de los más pequeños, también hay zonas de juegos infantiles donde pueden divertirse en contacto con la naturaleza. El parque está diseñado para que tanto adultos como niños disfruten de su tiempo en un entorno natural, ofreciendo hermosas vistas del río Manzanares, senderos arbolados y áreas de juego para los niños. Asimismo, dispone de equipos de ejercicio para adultos y espacios simplemente para sentarse bajo los árboles y admirar el bello paisaje. Tras recorrer las distintas zonas recreativas del parque, me dirigí hacia la ribera del río caminando por las pasarelas del puente; gracias a los recientes trabajos de dragado, el río luce más ancho y los árboles se reflejan en el agua. La ubicación del Parque Guaiquerí y sus variadas instalaciones lo convierten en una excelente opción para los amantes de las actividades físicas y recreativas en plena naturaleza. When it comes to recreational activities, the park features basketball, volleyball, and soccer courts located at the entrance on the right-hand side, surrounded by various plants.
For the recreation and enjoyment of the little ones, there are also playgrounds where they can play amidst nature. The park is designed so that both adults and children can enjoy their time in a natural setting, featuring beautiful views of the Manzanares River, tree-lined paths, and play areas for kids. There is also exercise equipment for adults to work out, or simply a place to sit under the trees and admire the beautiful scenery. After exploring the park's various recreational areas, I headed toward the river zone along the bridge walkways; thanks to recent dredging, the river looks wider, and the trees are reflected in the water. The location of Guaiquerí Park and its diverse facilities make it an excellent choice for those who love physical and recreational activities surrounded by nature.
