Visita a la Redoma " Benigno Bruzual" en Cumaná [Esp-Eng]
Hoy comparto mi visita a la redoma Benigno Bruzual, situada en la intersección de la avenida Fernández de Serpa, la calle Rivas y la avenida Santa Rosa. La avenida Fernández de Serpa alberga importantes plazas de la ciudad, como la plaza Alí Primera y posee un gran valor histórico; Fernández de Serpa fue, en cierto sentido, el último fundador de la ciudad de Cumaná en 1569, tras la destrucción previa de la urbe a manos de indígenas que se oponían al establecimiento del dominio y el modelo españoles en la región. Con la llegada de Fernández de Serpa, se consolidó definitivamente la configuración espacial de la primera ciudad en tierra firme. La avenida también conduce al sector "El Monumento", donde se encuentra la escultura del "Monje y el Indio"; en esta zona también se ubican el cuartel de bomberos, varias clínicas y una plaza actualmente en construcción que rinde homenaje a Fernández de Serpa.

Today I am sharing my visit to the Benigno Grusal traffic circle, located at the intersection of Fernández de Serpa Avenue, Rivas Street, and Santa Rosa Avenue. Fernández de Serpa Avenue is home to important city squares—such as Alí Primera Plaza—and holds great historical significance; Fernández de Serpa was, in a sense, the final founder of the city of Cumaná in 1569, following the city's earlier destruction by indigenous people who opposed the establishment of Spanish rule and the Spanish model in the region. With Fernández de Serpa's arrival, the spatial layout for the first city on the mainland was successfully consolidated. The avenue also leads to the "El Monumento" sector, home to the "Monk and Indian" sculpture; the area also houses the fire station, several clinics, and a plaza currently under construction that pays tribute to Fernández de Serpa.
As I mentioned, the traffic circle is situated across from the "La Copita" building—a structure that stands out for its architectural design, featuring cornices and windows of various shapes. Very close to the traffic circle lies "Los Obispos" (The Bishops) Plaza, notable for its diverse ornamental plants and trees. It is a small space honoring the bishops who first came to Cumaná, including Sixto Sosa, who was distinguished by his humanity and service to the people of the city.
La glorieta presenta un diseño sencillo y está rodeada de árboles; tres senderos de hormigón conducen al centro, donde se alza la escultura de esta destacada figura del estado Sucre. The traffic circle features a simple design and is surrounded by trees; three concrete walkways lead to the center, where the sculpture of this prominent figure from Sucre State stands. He composed the Sucre State anthem and also helped write the anthem for Nueva Esparta State; a highly talented musician and writer, he was born in Sucre State.
At the traffic circle, one can see the walkways and the gardens situated alongside them. The sculpture rests on an elongated, trapezoid-shaped gray pedestal; on the front, a black plaque with gold lettering displays the name of this distinguished musician from the eastern region, along with his years of birth and death. The base of the pedestal is decorated with small bricks, and the traffic circle's various walkways converge there.
En las diversas fotografías y ángulos de la glorieta, se puede apreciar la oficina de seguros Constitución , un edificio blanco y azul situado en la parte posterior del espacio. Junto a él se alza un gran árbol de neem con rayas blancas y rojas; se trata de una medida de protección para evitar que las plagas y los insectos dañen el árbol.

In the various photographs and angles of the traffic circle, we can see the Constitución Insurance office—a white and blue building situated at the rear of the circle. Beside it stands a large Neem tree painted with white and red stripes; this is a protective measure to prevent pests and insects from damaging the tree.
At the front of the sculpture, we see a gray pedestal with white lines along the edges. A side view reveals the white edge stripes, the gray center section, and the bust of Venenuosal; the bust itself is black and surrounded by plants. The traffic circle was recently cleaned, which explains the sparse vegetation; since it is currently the dry season, new plants have been installed, and with the arrival of the rains, the circle will take on a much greener look. Discovering this spot was a lovely adventure; while I knew he was the author of the national anthem, I hadn't known the location of his sculpture. These are the kinds of figures who enrich the city, and their legacy endures over time. Thank you for joining me on this adventure.
