A Dango Redemption

I stood at the corner of the road, marveling at the city's exquisite magnificence, a beauty to behold. The hour was so early that only a few vehicles could be seen.

It was going to be my first day back in my office after the conclusion of my leave. I was happy even though it took me a long time to admit it.

I was allowed to take a leave from work due to my increasing slacking and faltering performance. It was provided to ease my stress and worries, as my lack of focus at work became more apparent.

Unbeknownst to everyone at the office, I was emotionally wounded, and silently enduring the trauma. I was in the aftermath of a recent breakup that marked the end of a five-year relationship, leaving me single once again.

As my leave drew to a close, I gathered my strength and put on a smile, determined to maintain a positive outlook. My coffee had that magic, so I didn't forget to carry it along as I waited calmly for a cab to arrive.

"A beautiful morning to you, Miss Rose."

My eyes darted around, searching for the source of the greeting, only to find no one but a lone dog standing before me. I was left aghast and frightened.

Rummaging my bag, I brought out my thermos of coffee and took a sip to calm my nerves. I needed to be sure of my imagination, but I totally felt it was insane to think that a dog could speak.

"Why do I suddenly feel that I'm still not okay? Why would I even imagine that I heard this dog speak to me?" I questioned myself.

"Your imaginations are right, Miss Rose! I'm Dango by the way. I'm pleased to meet you."

My eyes widened in terror, I let out a piercing scream as my feet quivered and my heart raced in panic.

"You don't have to scream, I promise you, I don't bite. Calm down, everything is fine."

A sense of relief washed over me, as my raced heart settled and my quivering feet became gradually eased.

"How are you able to speak?" I asked in curiosity.

"That doesn't matter, Miss Rose! But I'd like to think that the coffee in your thermos will suffice for the two of us."

"I don't share my coffee with dogs" I immediately replied.

"Perhaps you don't want to miss out on this vital information."

Overwhelmed by a sense of confusion and fueled by my curiosity regarding the crucial information Dango divulged, I reached into my bag, procured a cup, and carefully filled it with coffee.

"Have it. Can I hear what you have to say now?" I asked, handing it a cup of coffee.

"First of all, I would say Frank is a loser for letting go of an Angel like you. You've wallowed in pain for so long, why not embrace the future and look forward to the brighter side of it? Your leave has just been concluded, instead of struggling to muster a cheerful and composed demeanor, loosen up, genuinely smile and present yourself in a good light because you truly deserve it."

I don't how it happened, but I got immensely touched by those cheerful words. Months of struggling to find hope were instantly transformed in a single day just by meeting with Dango.

"Oh! By the way, your new boss is undeniably charming, and your beauty will be an incredible match. Embrace it with a beaming smile."

I stood astonished, reminiscing on Dango's last words as I watched it speed off.

"Thank you, Dango!" I pitched, as a cab approached me.

Getting into the cab, I found myself smiling and blushing uncontrollably. It'd been so long that I felt this way. I became so happy that I crossed paths with Dango.
