Today is my 35th birthday.

I was born in 1985, and have seen recessions, technological advancement, September 11th and so much more. I have grown from a child to having a child and a family of my own.

As a 35 year old, I appreciate life more and have deeper perspective on what really matters. I am past the party stage and am in the family stage now. My career is taking off, so I have more perspective on that too.

I have grown from a worker to a manager. I have moved from one part of the country to the other, and appreciate the lessons life has given me.

Some lessons I have learned in 35-years

Don't take your family for granted.

Keep in shape. It is hard to get back into shape, trust me.

Make time for your hobbies.

Give 100% at work.

Give 100% to your marriage and kids.

You will have regrets and that is part of life.

Study what you are passionate about.

Most investments will not make you rich. Focus on saving what money you have.

Put at least 15% into your retirement accoints and do not touch them.

Owming a house with land is key to building wealth.

Do not get in over your head in debt. Credit cards and home equity loans must be paid back.

Do not compete with others using material things. You don't want what you own to define or even own you.

I have spent the past two years on Steemit and they have been amazing. Writing here is fun and therapeutic in a way. Thank you for reading my blog.

As a husband, father and Steemian I am glad to be here and do not take this for granted. Keep on keeping on all! And if you share a birthday today, happy birthday to you, friend.
