Social Media Challenge || Not Afraid of Magic Reflect Because of This

avatar

Hi, everyone. Welcome to my post. In the Social Media Challenge, I will discuss anything about SPLINTERLANDS, it can be about cards, abilities, rulesets, battle reviews, End of Season results, or my playing experience.

In this post, I will share some tips for dealing with MAGIC REFLECT abilities as well as share an example of a battle I won in the COUNTERSPELL Ruleset.

Magic Reflect

MAGIC REFLECT is an ability that can provide a counterattack when the target is hit by an attack from a Magic monster. The attack given by the target is half the attack he received from his attacker (Magic monster).

MAGIC REFLECT ability can be increased in strength by using the help of other abilities, the ability is AMPLIFY . AMPLIFY itself is an ability that can provide additional strength to certain abilities. The abilities that can be increased in strength by AMPLIFY are THORNS , MAGIC REFLECT , and RETURN FIRE . the additional amount given is no more than 1 point of damage. Although not large, with this addition, there is a possibility that the attacker can be defeated immediately because sometimes even though they have a large ATTACK POWER, the attacker may have low Health points.

The MAGIC REFLECT ability is also found in one of the Rulesets, the ruleset is COUNTERSPELL . In the COUNTERSPELL ruleset, all monsters will be given an additional MAGIC REFLECT ability (if they don't have one).

So, if we are in the COUNTERSPELL ruleset, are we not encouraged to use Magic monsters?

The answer is not 100% yes, because there are special conditions needed if we still want to use Magic monsters even though they are in the COUNTERSPELL ruleset. These conditions are :

  • Use magic monsters that have high Health points to avoid considerable damage when counterattacked by MAGIC REFLECT ability.

  • For precautionary measures, also bring monsters that can heal, such as TANK HEAL if the magic monster is in the first position, or TRIAGE if the monster is not in the first position.

  • Don't rely solely on Magic monsters if in the COUNTERSPELL ruleset. Use Melee and Ranged monsters as well (if there is no ruleset restricting it)

  • Use magic monsters that have VOID abilities such as Djinn Oshannus and Void Dragon to reduce the damage received from MAGIC REFLECT abilities. Or you can also use Immortalis which is a summoner from Earth Splinter (But you have to use monsters from EARTH SPLINTER too).

And this time I will share a battle using Magic monsters despite being in the COUNTERSPELL Ruleset.

Battle

The ruleset for this battle is ARMORED UP (All monsters in the battle arena receive an additional 2 ARMORS), COUNTERSPELL (All monsters in the battle arena receive an additional ability in the form of MAGIC REFLECT ), and WHAT DOESN'T KILL YOU (All monsters in the battle arena receive an additional ability in the form of ENRAGE ).

I chose to use Immortalis because I brought more than 1 magic monster in the COUNTERSPELL Ruleset. In addition, another reason is because of the ARMORED UP Ruleset which gives an additional 2 ARMOR to all monsters in the battle arena. So there is a possibility that the opponent will use monsters that have ARMOR and the ARMORED UP Ruleset is used to add ARMOR.

Immortalis also grants an additional SHATTER ability to all my monsters so that they can destroy the target's entire ARMOR if their attack successfully hits it. The SHATTER ability will be useful if the owner of this ability only has low ATTACK POWER while the target has a lot of ARMOR.

The opponent only relies on the buff (adding 1 SPEED and 1 ARMOR) from its Summoner, Kelya Frendul. On my side, in addition to providing additional VOID and SHATTER abilities, Immortalis also provides a debuff of 1 Health reduction to all opposing monsters. There are also *debuffs given by Goblin Psychic in the form of SILENCE , Fungus Flinger in the form of BLIND , and Djinn Biljka in the form of WEAKEN .

In the first round, Tide Biter, Diemonshark, and Angelic Mandarin successfully attacked Hill Giant while the attacks from Merdhampir failed to hit it. Pelacor Bandit and Uraeus attacked Fungus Flinger.

On my side, Uraeus attacked Merdhampir and managed to give him POISON. Hill Giant attacked Diemonshark and managed to destroy his entire ARMOR. And my other monsters (Goblin Psychic, Fungus Flinger, Doctor Blight, and Djinn Biljka) defeated Diemonshark.

In the second round, Hill Giant attacked Tide Biter before being defeated by Tide Bitter, Angelic Mandarin, and Merdhampir. Fungus Flinger managed to dodge Pelacor Bandit's attacks but failed to avoid Uraeus's attacks and was defeated.

The defeat of Fungus Flinger gave additional stats to Goblin Psychic and Doctor Blight so that each of them along with Djinn Biljka managed to defeat 3 opposing monsters (Tide Biter, Uraeus, and Pelaor Bandit).

Angelic Mandarin was defeated by Uraeus, Goblin Psychic, and Doctor Blight* in round three. Meanwhile, Merdhampir got attacked by Djinn Biljka in the third round and was defeated by Uraeus in the fourth round.

Battle Review

Even if using a Magic monster in the COUNTERSPELL Ruleset, as long as it has VOID ability and low ATTACK POWER, the effect of MAGIC REFLECT ability will not hurt the attacker. If without the VOID ability, Magic monsters that have an ATTACK POWER of 3-4 points will be damaged by MAGIC REFLECT by 2 points. But if you have the VOID ability, the damage will be reduced to half (1 point).
