An End to Grey Mornings

Signs of Spring with this tree in bloom. I think that this is a sumac stand. Once we purchase this land, we are eliminating the sumac because they grow like weeds.

It's May 11 and Pennsylvania is finally experiencing more spring like weather including sunshine the past two mornings. More common in Northwestern Pennsylvania is rain, damp and grey mornings with great frequency.

I'm still recovering from a tough stretch with bronchitis, but am able to remain vertical for longer periods of time each day. Work went over my normal shift due to the late start from training. At 1:53 the rest of the day was canceled for our training class because the training system is not functional. We were sent back to our regular unit to process incoming calls as usual.

Toward the day's end those of us in the training received a message that our training is canceled for the remainder of this week and we will be rescheduled for the system upgrade training at a future date.

My last call came in late and held me over unti almost 5:30. On a good note, I met over Teams for a quick phone meeting with my supervisor who wanted to inform me that because the minimum wage was raised in Pennsylvania, anyone who is between $16-$19 an hour will be receiving $1.00 pay increase for equity reasons. It will be applied retroactive to April to our paychecks.

Overall, it wasn't a bad day. The new system has a number of quirks and it is inevitable that the organization will experience growing pains while attempting to move us all over to this new web based application. Because we work from home, connectivity can also present real challenges for users.

I appreciate the work from home model now. I was one of the last representatives to agree to go home at the beginning of the pandemic because I never wanted to be fully isolated. Only one representative elected to return to the office to work. He works with just the executive secretary in office in Erie. He's a people person and used to work as a radio DJ across the street from the office until the site eliminated all local DJs and went Nationwide through iHeart Radio.

I save a lot of money by not having to commute one hour one way and I no longer have to purchase work clothes or lunches. The car insurance price dropped to casual use and wear and tear is almost non existent. I like saving two hours of my time a day not needing to drive and especially not having to worry about driving with a migraine or in winter weather, not to mention avoiding potential deer accidents, of which I have experienced more than the average driver due to the area in which we reside.

I'm content this evening listening to the birds sing with the windows letting in fresh air and letting my thoughts roll as I freewrite. It's a good day and I hope yours went well, too.

minute freewrite using prompt grey morning hosted by @mariannewest.

I'm nearer the Ohio border than NY. I'm not sure where Wellsville NY is?

Allegany county, the third county east of Ohio/PA in NYS. Probably 80 to 100 miles or so from you. Only 9 miles from PA though.

Greetings @wandrnrose7, thank God you are getting better with bronchitis, you always have to be very careful with it and at least thanks to working from home you get some relief from all the physical and mental exhaustion that can represent rolling so much in the day plus it serves you to save some money in turn that helps you to improve your state of health.

The bush you mention, I think I've seen it here in Venezuela in semi-arid areas, and it does grow like a bush.

Take advantage of these days of work "rest" to improve your health and keep an eye out for deer when you drive, a hug and cheers, have a nice day✌🏼
