30 days Writing challenge. Day 4: write a haiku
Dearly beloved,
I have been absent here for some days, so I have not been able to follow up on my 30 days challenge. I have been travelling and the environment has not been convenient for writing. I am home now and roaring to get on this challenge thingy.
The structured poetic form has been something I have deliberately avoided, from the first day, back at the university when I tried my hands at writing a Shakespearean sonnet. I have never been a fan of rules especially in writing. I feel that certain rules limits the range of a writer's creativity and the opportunity for experimentation. This challenge has thus put me in a spot.
The haiku is a three lined poem, traditionally made up of 5-7-5 syllables for each line, giving a total of 17 lines. It is usually about nature. It has evolved somewhat, so while I will attempt to use the 5-7-5 lines, I doubt if it will fall into a nature poem category. I hope you enjoy it. Love and light.
A Haiku for the silent
Feverish arms raised
In power for bones speaking—
Our tongues are dust motes.

Good to see you back :)
Thank you. It feels good to be.
I like your haiku and I admire your tenacity :)
Thank you. I must finish this thing whether I like it or not. Owe it to myself.
Always always so stunning, your poems are.
Leaves me almost speechless.
Awww I am thrilled to read this. Thank you @littlescribe. I am just glad.
Good to have you back Mwalim. This was the day I'd have intentionally skipped because haikus are damn hard. But for some reason not to you 💜
Something must kill one, as they say in my place. I have avoided haikus for long. It's short and has rules. I think these structured poems are good for discipline. I did some reading before writing though. I hope I did it well. 😂 Thank you for believing ❤️
I think they soften up to geniuses. On my end, nothing is harder even when you read. The rules are why I don't engage in many challenges here because they don't work for me. I am glad you are getting into them :)
A friend dared me and I don't want to disappoint.
Lovely. I learnt a lot from this one post.
I join the writing challenge guess I joined in the wrong day
Oh you could have started on day one. It's not necessary that you must keep up with me. I'm doing this so I can try new ways of seeing, writing, thinking.
Okay. I'll do day one then 💪🏽💪🏽
