Wanna know a few little secret of how we (in this case it's just my boyfriend but would love to use the word 'we' so I don't feel so useless #lol) cook this steak and coleslaw so damn good? If you love both of the dishes, and maybe a few more, you sure should stick around!

In Thailand, we mostly eat rice and noodles as a base food on most meals. Though, there's some of those night that I would consider 'special' where we would just gather the whole fam and switch types of meal up a bit.

This is not the first time that my boyfriend (correction: we) cook western food for my family. It's started from he cooking it for my aunt, then a few aunts, then those aunts were so happy with the meals that they encourage him to cook for our whole fam one night. Now you may think, 'What's so good about the dishes he cooks?'. There are a few secrets to these dishes and I sure would love to share with you!

Wasabi Coleslaw!

Whatttttttt!!!

Yes! Exactly the way it sounds.

Here's how it happens. We went to Vegas the other year and visited this one fast food chain called 'Steak n Shake'. One of the dishes were coleslaw. Not that you need to know but dude, I love coleslaw and I had been eating all kinds of them. Not gonna lie but dang! coleslaw at Steak n Shake was one of the best of the best we'd tried so we're wondering what makes it so good! Then we somehow figured it out, 'It's that a little sting after taste'.. 'Was that horseradish!'. Exactly, it was!

We went home and had a chance to try exactly that, horseradish! and yup! Our home cooked coleslaw is much better ever since.

Another thing to be added. When in Thailand, we can't really find the same exact horseradish so we improvised with Wasabi. This little secret kind of pull out that little spicy hit at the end. The flavor got brought up so much too this way! It's just as good. A little Asian hint while in Asian country, so why not? Either horseradish or wasabi, make sure you give it a go!

Salt and pepper, salt and pepper only Steak

I have seen people start to go crazy with their steak. Especially we all Thai people, we love those fermented sauce like, soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce and all. I of course like it in some occasion but honestly, for steak, I always end up with the most simple yet unique flavor we all love, salt and pepper.

We also don't need to marinade in advance. My boy friend normally just rub it pretty good before putting it on a hot pan or hot grill right afterward. Just never overcook it. Salty and peppery with that red-ish juicy meat from the inside (this one for beef not pork). Same thing as pork though but that, we always have it well done (of course!)

I used to be very close with a professional chef from the States and he also did exactly this, salt and pepper. Nothing else.

Same thing goes to our sweet corn :)

Alrighty. That's it for these secrets no secrets cooking tips we have been loving and sure would love to share this deliciousness. Not just because it's yummy but it's also real easy to cook and I assume it's nutritious! Totally love the meal. 2-3 times a week or whatever, bring it on baby!

Glad you learn something new. At least, that wasabi or horseradish coleslaw, it gotta, come on!

Real good indeed and no, not that spicy for the wasabi. We only put a little just for that hint
