Exotic Thai Snack!
It's not just regular Thai food you have seen in every corner when scrolling around in Thailand! If you're one of those who love something unique and exotic, make sure you stick around!
I had a chance to visit a floating market in Bangkok. There are actually 2 besides each other but we went with the more laidback one so it's less people, less touristy and probably more local prices. I have shared the most colorful (and yes, exotic) main dish we tried there at the market. Today, let's dive into some delicious snacks!
Kanom Krok (ขนมครก)
This one is probably dessert / or snack, however you'd like to call it as it's quite sweet. Kanom Krok has been my all time favorite as it's coconutty, creamy, and sweet. These small little cup-like made with sweeten coconut milk. Can also choose some topping to go with it like, green onion, taro or corns. Crispy on its shell then a little soft almost yolky (like poached egg) inside.
Khao Chae (ข้าวแช่)
I believe I have shared this dish here on Hive a few times already as I love the dish! Super difficult to find though. There are a few in Bangkok that I know of but around other places I live, really not that easy to find at all. It's pretty much a set of side dishes like, shrimp paste balls, shredded sweeten pork, pickled radish. All the side dishes eaten with rice in cold fragranced water (smell like flower) so it's super refreshing kind of snack. Totally recommend you give it a try if you have a chance.
Kanom Buang Yuan (ขนมเบื้องญวน)
Oooh.. Never thought of omelette made this way, have you?
It's pretty much a big omelette that before it get taken off the pan, there's some stuffing putting inside before they wrap it in a square shape and serve. The stuffing is mostly shredded coconut, ground shrimps, and beansprouts giving it a little crunch from the inside.
Now we eat this whole thing with pickle cucumber & red onions. Totally makes things better as it gives the dish a little sweet, sour and even more crunch. It sure gives the dish that refreshing hint. Another cool one to try out!
Klong Song Wat Floating Market
I'm sure you can find it elsewhere in Thailand to (just need to keep looking a little) but we had them at Klong Song Wat Floating Market and the dishes we found here are so well and cleanly prepared.
