As exotic as it could get and even for a Thai person like myself, it's not easy for me to find a good one every so often...

Khao Yum

I see! There's that 'Yum' word in the dish name so maybe it's actually yum! Reeeeee

This Thai dish called 'Khao Yum Pak Tai' with the word 'Khao Yum' mean rice mix with stuff and the word 'Pak Tai' is just the origin of the dish which is Southern Thailand so altogether would be the Southern Thai style mixed rice. Where I live, there's not much at all of this dish being sold so you gotta know the spots that sell it as it's not that common kind of a food in Central Thailand.

Now let's dive into the dish!

I believe every place and every chef has their own secret recipe and their own style how the dish is cooked. This one I discovered (which turned out to be such a good one. I will be sharing where it's located in just a few lines later), probably one of the most beautiful and colorful dish I have seen, literally. Instead of just one color rice, which normally use butterfly pea flowers to cook. This place add another type of rice, riceberry rice, which makes the dish both more colorful and nutritious.

Then the toppings are just beyond..

Starting with a few shredded veggies and herb like, purple cabbage, carrots, lime leaves, bean sprouts and lemongrass. Then fruits like pomelo, mango and lime (is lime a type of fruit or vegetable? O.o) give it that juiciness and sourness. Roasted coconut flake gives the dish some crispiness. Ground dried fish so that we got some meat in there! Then lastly, some grain like ground black sesame seeds. Chili flakes can also be added if you love that heat!

Sweet and sour sauce also made with all natural ingredients like tamarind, palm sugar, and other seasoning sauce like fish sauce, and else.

Not just it's pretty but it's delicious and refreshing. It's also exotic and not like other dishes you have seen so I totally recommend you try it out if you come across one but.. where to get that good one.

Klong Song Wat Floating Market

We had a chance to go visit this old-school floating market located in Bangkok just right by a canal. This little stall is located here in this floating market along with other delicious local food sold at local prices. Love the vibes there as well as its so close to the nature so it's two birds with one stone when coming to visit here.

Address: 111 Wat Talingchan Chak Phra Rd, Khlong Chak Phra, Taling Chan, Bangkok 10170, Thailand

Thai dishes look very delicious and scrumptious, especially if they come from seafood. You've done this very well.
