What a meal! Having load tons of river food literally right on the river in an open air rafting house. Chainat local style indeed!
Chainat
Remember this province, 'Chainat' as seriously, I just fell in love after a few days hanging out there. It's quite, it's chill and it's really local vibe.
This was our last meal there in Chainat so our local friend brought us to her friend's family restaurant. Since it's the last meal, we just want to make it a little special with this one big(ger) meal with better view of the Chaophraya River. We went to Pae Rung (แพรุ่ง).
Pae Rung (แพรุ่ง)
Pae Rung (แพรุ่ง) is one of not many of the rafting restaurants that has been around for long time for what I heard from my local friends who live in Chainat. The location is great, the atmosphere just as local as it could be and the food,.. let's just dive in!
There are seriously more than 100+ menu items we could choose from, from deep fry, stir fry, Tom yum, soup, so we went with a few deep fries, a few stir fries and a boiling hot bowl of Tom yum. There are both riverfood like all the river fish, prawns, shimps so we tried to stick with that instead of other meats or seafood.
My most favorite would be that deep fried small river fish they call 'Pla Moo (ปลาหมู)' or translate directly into English as 'Pig fish'. Not exactly sure what's the right word, sorry! Another one would be Tom Yum catfish as it's a nice flavor changing with that hot and sour hot soup during the meal.
Totally love Chainat and sure, this one is one of the place you should give it a visit for that great view right on the river and the good local food that's been with Chainat people for more than 30 years!

5 years this has been happening to me, it started here, around people that are still here. Homeland security has done nothing at all, they are not here to protect us.
