H everyone. First up, i hope everybody has had a wonderful christmas time with friends and family!

But we are here for our weekly challenge given by our friends from @splinterlands, and this weeks card of interest will be the our flying friend from the fire splinter, the Giant Roc!

Giant Roc

From far away, a Roc may be mistaken for a normal bird, but once it comes closer its true size can be appreciated. These massive birds never stray from the Burning Lands, most likely due to the warm ground and favorable nesting conditions of the uninhabitable wasteland of The Unknown.

EditionAlpha / Beta
RarityCommon
ElementFire
AttackMelee
AbilitiesFlying/Reach & Trample at level 6
CP15

I used this a card a lot when it was still available in the standard cards because of the reach ability which makes it perfect second line playable card. In combination with the new Chaos Legion summoner, Tarsa, it becomes an even better card.

Pro'sCon's
Medium mana costOnly 1 attack
Flying / Reach
4 Life

This card was part of the base card set until Chaos Legion, and is now replaced with the Radiated Brute, which has slightly different statistics. If you want to play this card, it will set you back 0.1 DEC a day for rent, or 360 DEC (~ $1.80) if you wish to buy a level 1 card. I just bought one from peakmonsters.com for this battle for $1.59

Tactics

Well, i had an idea for this game. As it was a low mana game, i wanted a low mana tank and the Giant Roc in second line. And i wanted to add another monster for the last 3 mana, so my choice went to Serpentine Spy because of its speed and opportunity. Confident i could win,i started this battle, but boy was i wrong with my setup.

Teams And Ruleset

The ruleset of this battle:

SummonerPyreBuff: +1 Speed
TankAntoid PlatoonShield
2nd LineGiant RocReach / Flying
3rd LineSerpentine SpyOpportunity

Opponent's Team

SummonerWizard of EastwoodBuff: -2 Shield
TankUnicorn MustangVoid
2nd LineGoblin ThiefSneak

Round 1

round_1.png

Sometimes when you see you opponents monsters, you now you were wrong, and its no longer a question if you lose, but more how fast you lose. And this was one of those battles. By missing my shield from the summoners buff, and having a 3 melee attack against me it was just hope and pray for the best.
Being damaged to 1 health on my tank, missing with the Giant Roc, and the Serpentine Spy taken out by the defense it could not take any longer than 2 rounds before this battle was over.

Round 2

round_2.png

And i was correct. In round 2 the Unicorn Mustang wiped out my Antoid Platoon on the first hit and the Goblin Thief not missing the our giant winged friend despite of the flying perk it was over before i knew it.

Round 3

round_3.png

And there you have it ladies and gentlemen. Taken out on the first hit in the third round. Well, like they always say, you win some, you lose some.

Conclusion

As you have read in my battle share (if you made it this far, my guess is you have read it) my choice of summoner and monsters was flawed from the moment i entered the battle field. The tank and giant roc combination could not pack enough punch to win this game. But i really think the Giant Roc is a nice card to have in your collection and have used it a lot because it is a great card for placement on the second line.

Splinterlands is actually tough. Competition is absolutely obtaining additional heat. Every time it obtains harder to meet the level of the previous one.

Yeah for certain. Regrettably there will certainly regularly be actually those wanting to remove market value. We view it on hive regularly.

Maintain holding, always keep playing, and yes, take additional individuals aboard on the game. It is actually now also simpler to get going and also established on an account. Much better than ever before!
