Art #9: Mermay 2023

Hello Everyone! been so long since I last posted here, hoping you still recognize me, lol.

The other day I was thinking of what to do with my 15-day vacation and suddenly realized it was already the end of the month. I remembered saying to someone I would join this year's Mermay Challenge. Glad I was able to catch up at the last minute.

This is my entry for this Artpark's Mermay Challenge with the mascot - Euphy. The concept is inspired by something I saw on Facebook the other day(see pic below), playing the violin in zero gravity just looks so beautiful.

I started the sketch by doodling the flow of her body, then adding the parts of the body to the right places, and finally adding details to it. I was thinking of making the tail into something that would look like a dress the same as the reference above, but realized the complexity is still too much for me so gotta quickly abandon those thoughts. It only brings pointless frustrations, lol.

Art Process:

The next is the coloring stage. I don't really like purple but Euphy is purple so gotta endure it for her. I mainly use the watercolor(wet) brush here and the mapping pen for the lineart. I made a mistake in exporting these processes, I save it in 400px but the original canvass is at 1000px, the quality was downgraded a lot! I only realized it when I was uploading it here earlier, got shaken seeing how blurry the image is. Sadly, I can only save the final piece sorry for this little art process here.

Love mermaids too! Beautiful art piece. Wonder what took you so long to be back in Hive though? Seems like you have so much art and creative process you can share here.

Thank you. I only post my digital artwork here which was drawn on my smartphone before but that phone of mine fell and broke😣. fortunately, I was finally able to buy Pentablet earlier this month after saving up from my allowance for the past months😊

That is so pretty! I also really like the one you made in 2022! I don't really know what type of creature that is, I think like a space mermaid? You made the post so you can name her. Btw I have a joke.... What do you call a maid that works underwater?? A mermaid!! I hope you liked the joke! Keep up the good work @weirdghost! :)
