Ocean Healer in Action | Fanart

Holo Everyone!

I wanna share this fanart I made of the Ocean Healer in action to capture a water-type creature. I tried to make a full illustration this time with the art style inspired by Kan Liu (aka artof666k) I love the simplicity of his style and being able to tell stories in a single illustration and it's those things I wanted to imitate for this illustration.

Art Process

I was just wondering how a healer would capture a creature in the water and just had thought of this - through fishing! For the process, I started with a rough sketch for the pose referenced from this pin after that is a sketch in orange with some traits of the Ocean Healer. I then painted the base colors over the sketch which was a bit uncomfortable for me this time😄 I then painted the background just a silhouette of trees and grass using a texture brush because I intended to blur it later on. I made a lot of variations on how should I paint the water but in the end, just continued with how it was on the reference. lol

I started drawing this last week but got to stop with it to study for the monthly exam. I changed back the flow of the water to a simpler movement as what I originally planned for this illustration and as for the boat I made it a metal instead of wood to give off a bit of a futuristic vibe. I also painted the minor details of the character and because it is bright all over the place, I added a multiply layer above filled with dark color and then soft erased the parts that I assigned to be the focal point. I then added the highlights and some water splashes and here is the result...
