Who We Are: WellsForAll Years of Clean Water on Hive.

Welcome. Whether you've arrived from our website, stumbled across a project post, or found us through a friend on Hive — this is the post that explains everything. Who we are, where we came from, what we've built, and why we chose to do it all on a blockchain.

WellsForAll is a clean-water organisation working in the underserved communities of Ghana. We drill boreholes, we hand them over to the people who use them, and we record every step of the process permanently and publicly. As of today, we have 25 completed, operational boreholes serving thousands of people every single day.

But we didn't start as an NGO. We started as an idea and a promise, back in 2019.

Before the Name: The Hive Borehole Project (2019)

Long before "WellsForAll" existed as a registered organisation, there was the Hive Borehole Project.

It began with a simple, stubborn conviction. Travelling through rural Ghana, I kept seeing the same thing everywhere I went — women and children walking for hours to collect water that wasn't even safe to drink. It's the kind of problem you can either learn to ignore or decide to do something about. In 2019, I decided.

I brought the idea to Hive — the decentralised blockchain community I already called home — not with a business plan, but with a question: what if we could crowdfund clean water transparently, with the whole world able to watch where every cent went?

Hive said yes. And the first proposals, the first support, and the first borehole all grew from that decision.

From Project to NGO: The Journey to 25

What started as one well in the Ashanti Region became a mission that refused to stop.

One borehole became two. Two became five. Each completed project proved the model worked and made the next one possible. Communities that received clean water told other communities. Supporters who funded one borehole came back to fund another. And slowly, a personal conviction grew into something much bigger than one person.

Along the way, we did the serious work of becoming a formal organisation. WellsForAll Africa is now a registered NGO in Ghana — accountable, structured, and built to last far beyond any single founder. But the heart of it never changed. Every borehole is still drilled, tested, handed to a local Water Management Committee, and recorded on Hive for anyone to verify.

Twenty-five boreholes later, the promise made in 2019 is still the promise we keep today: clean water is a right, not a luxury.

Why Hive Has Been Home From the Start

People sometimes ask why a water charity in Ghana runs on a blockchain. The answer is that Hive isn't a gimmick for us — it's the foundation.

Transparency by default. Every proposal, budget, and completion report lives permanently on-chain. It cannot be edited, backdated, or deleted. When we say a borehole cost what it cost, you don't have to trust us — you can check.

Funding without gatekeepers. Through the Hive DAO, our proposals go straight to the community. No six-month grant cycles. No bureaucratic bottlenecks. When a village needs water, speed is not a luxury — and Hive lets us move.

A community with a conscience. The people of Hive didn't just fund boreholes. They believed in the idea that a blockchain could do genuine good in the world. Every vote and every bit of support turned online engagement into offline impact.

Hive gave us a way to prove that blockchain can be more than speculation. It can be the backbone of something deeply human.
