Did this coin crack my nuts??
Way back in 2018, I managed to mint my own "Christmas- Nutcracker coin" by visiting the Royal Mint. It cost £18 to basically press a button and watch the machine apply 8tonne of pressure and churn out my silver coin. These coins were only available from the Royal Mint between 19-Nov-2018 and 31-Dec-2018.
I minted 2 coins that December, knowing i would send one out as part of my #secretsanta gift that year.
The festive coin was designed by acclaimed engraver, Harry Brockway and features a magical scene from the Nutcracker ballet. It is the very first time that the Nutcracker had appeared on a UK coin and is only available in Brilliant Uncirculated quality
Not many of these £5 coins were minted, so finding them coming up for sale with the full "mint your own" package is pretty hard. A few crop up from time to time, and one recently sold for £148.
Now a bad little return of £130 in just 4yrs.
