Ring-ring, ring-ring..... Hello, who's this?

Alexander Graham Bell completely revolutionised the world of communication when he achieved the world’s first successful telephone transmission on 10 March 1876. Changing the way in which we communicate forever, his innovation of the telephone is arguably one of the most important breakthroughs in modern history.
Whilst Bell would go on to invent numerous other devices throughout his career, including the metal detector, his name is synonymous with telephone technology. During a golden age of invention, he remains one of the most important inventors of his time and many consider him a true audio visionary.
-Royal Mint

Fresh off the press!! The Royal mint have, in my opinion, done a cracking job in designing this newly minted and released £2 coin.

Im a science buff, and all things technological, biological and psychological intrest me. The mint has for thenpast few years, been releasing their "inovation in science" series of silver coins, and while thisnis technically a stand alone coin and notnpart of that series, the stories behind these scoence based coins peaks my intrest.

Available in base metal (cupro-nickel), sterling silver (925) and 22ct gold, im sure these will fly of the shelves even if they do cost an arm and a leg.

The silver proof version will set you back a staggering £72.50 (plus p&p), for just 12g or just over 1/3 of an ounce of silver.

Featuring a reverse design by the talented artist Henry Gray, the coin depicts the dial of a push-button phone along with the words ‘PIONEER OF THE TELEPHONE’ cleverly inscribed on the buttons.

Did you not spot the hidden detail on the coin?? Here you go habe a closer look....

Can I see any profit being made from these gold and silver coins?? In short - NO. Well at least not in the short to medium time scale. The RM has made sure to suck any potential profits out of these coins, by making them so highly proced to begin with.

The coin does have a lot going innits favour, such as its history and good looking design. Plus with just 3010 coins minted in total, someone may pay you a small profit for it in around 10-15yrs.

Thats too long to wait for me to be happy on what miggt notneven be a ROI, so ill wait for the circulating version (cupro-nickel) to hit shops and banks and hopefully aquire one that way, and best of all it would have only cost me face-value.

Its a great looking design, the royal mint has done a good job on this one. They usually churn out complete rubbish knowing coin collectors, like myself, will buy any old crap looking to turn a profit.

You and me both!! Spot prices fall, yet premiums continue to climb.... At this rate, apot could be $5/oz and we would still end up payi g $25+ per coin
