Step into the realm of numismatic elegance as we delve into the captivating world of the Queen's Beasts coins. In 2016, the prestigious Royal Mint introduced a remarkable series of ten collector coins, paying homage to the magnificent Queen's Beasts statues that graced Queen Elizabeth II's coronation. These extraordinary coins stand as emblematic representations of her noble lineage, and today, we'll delve into the fascinating realm of the bullion coins within this illustrious collection.

Crafted in gold at 1oz and 1/4oz, silver at 10oz and 2oz, and platinum at 1oz, each of the Queen's Beasts bullion coins showcases a stylized depiction of one of the legendary heraldic statues. Notably, the silver coin marks a significant milestone as the very first 2oz United Kingdom silver bullion coin, adding to its allure. The entire series was ingeniously designed by the talented engraver Jody Clark, ensuring a cohesive and visually stunning collection.

Let's embark on a regal journey, beginning with the obverse side (HEADS side) of these remarkable coins. Gracing the obverse is the fifth definitive coinage portrait of the illustrious Queen Elizabeth II, encircled by the Latin text "ELIZABETH II • D • G • REG • F • D • (5/10/25/100) POUNDS." D G REG F D represents the abbreviated form of "Dei Gratia Regina Fidei Defensor," which translates to "By the Grace of God, Queen, Defender of the Faith."

Just below the portrait, the initials of the artist, Jody Clark, add a personal touch. Notably, starting from the fourth release, the bullion versions feature a captivating background adorned with an arcing pattern of numerous small diamonds, replacing the previous stucco-like finish.

Shifting our focus to the reverse side, we encounter a captivating portrayal of the chosen beast, accompanied by the text "[NAME OF BEAST] • (¼/1/2/10)oz • FINE (GOLD/SILVER/PLATINUM) • 999.(5/9) • (2016/-/2021)." Jody Clark's initials gracefully appear just below the shield, either to the left or right, offering a subtle nod to the artist's exceptional craftsmanship.

Now, let us take a closer look at the magnificent creatures featured in this awe-inspiring collection. The series commences with the grandeur of the Lion of England, released in March 2016, which promptly sold out, with a second release in mid-June of the same year. Following suit, in 2017, the Griffin of Edward III made its regal appearance, captivating collectors with its majestic presence. The Red Dragon of Wales joined the lineup in the same year, solidifying its place among these exquisite coins.

Continuing the legacy in 2018, the Black Bull of Clarence and the Unicorn of Scotland graced the numismatic stage, captivating enthusiasts with their distinctive symbolism. The year 2019 witnessed the arrival of the enigmatic Yale of Beaufort and the noble Falcon of the Plantagenets, further enriching the already illustrious collection.

In 2020, two extraordinary additions brought forth their magnificence: the White Lion of Mortimer and the White Horse of Hanover. These coins epitomize grace and heraldic splendor. Finally, in 2021, the Queen's Beasts series reached its climax with the release of the White Greyhound of Richmond, concluding this magnificent numismatic journey.

The success of these coins has seen their resale value skyrocket..... If you were fortunate to have picked up some of the earlier bullion coins, then you could be sitting on a small "gold mine" (pun intended) and a set of coins that have seen their value more than double.
