Why would anybody want to believe that the Earth is Flat? - Story with a Soundtrack

It Gets you closer to god (1).gif

As I told you last time, the universe is trying to tell me something. It´s telling me to look into the belief that the earth is flat. How the universe did that you can read here:

The Universe is trying to tell me something - A song inspired story

Today I will look at the actual idea that the earth is flat and why people could believe something like that. Yes, I am going down this rabbit hole and going even deeper this time.

Jefferson Airplane - White Rabbit

So as a good human being I acknowledge I am going in biased.

I don´t believe that the world is flat. As I said, it might be a bucket, but certainly not flat.

giphy (11).gif

Why Am I Biased

Now, why do I think the world is round?First of all, because it´s the normal thing to do, but as I love a good conspiracy theory let´s let go of that and look a bit further.

I believe the world is round because it were the best mathematicians in the world that were able to calculate this. The greeks uncovered this reality this 200 years before Christ was even born, they had nothing to hide. They lived in a world that did not care. These facts were just their findings.

It was Eratosthenes of Cyrene who was able to mathematically prove that the earth should be round, and based on today´s math his calculation was very well done without a calculator. And supported by sailors, pilots, and astronauts.

What can discard that mathematical proof?

I guess you just need to use New Math!

But according to this next video it´s two things that prove math wrong:

  • The fact that the horizon is always flat
  • The fact that the sea is always and shouldnñt be able to stick to a spinning ball

Now I have been saying on many occasions do not believe your eyes, they are meant to survive not to see. But this picture from StackEchange probably explains best why even though our eyes see a flat horizon at certain altitudes, you can still explain that the earth is curved.

And with regards to the water always being level and can´t curve, or that it could not stick to a spinning globe.
There are plenty of experiments done to show it can, and also the math adds up to say it can.

That is a shot from the below video, which actually is quite relaxing to watch, just because of the music.

Now I am not going bore you and try to debunk every single fact that proves the earth is flat. That has been done already and the web is full of those articles and videos.

What makes me curious is what persuades people to believe in something not only against popular belief but also against ancient mathematical proof.

Now in their defense, they make nice content, with semi-scientific proof presented in a passive-aggressive manner.

I really enjoyed their video and if you are sensitive to this way of presenting suggestions, I can imagine it´s not that hard to become a believer. What is worse I do agree with them DYOR (do your own research) and doubt everything that you are told.

If you have the time they made a sequel taking it to the next level, which was too much of a curve ball for me. I mean if a 102-year-old woman needs to convince me that the earth is flat you can sweep me up, Scotty.

Flat Earth - Glenn Cardier

It´s not about who´s right or wrong

So I checked the story about water sticking to a spinning ball, and I checked their story about not having any CGI ) computer-generated images of the earth. Well CGI was nonexistent till the seventies and just have a look here if you want to see what earth probably looks like from space on a non-CGI image.

Now I like the "we never went to the moon, it was just to piss off the Rusky's" theory. And that is, in my humble opinion, what often happens with conspiracy theories. They borrow something from an actual lie and then go, oh but if they lied about that what else could they have been lying about.

R.E.M. - Man On The Moon Lyrics

What I notice is that the flat earth movements makes it really about us, and them, them being the "globeheads".

Guess somebody has a God Complex

If you need to polarise your position like that, that is when I get suspicious. They are the victim of a worldwide conspiracy by lead by the masonic elite of globeheads that have a global network of people being paid to keep God away from the flat earthers.

Astronauts, sailors, pilots, airline crews, scientists and many more are being paid or played by actors to ensure the masses keep believing in a mathematic equation from 2000 years ago.

Being religious is not a requirement in becoming a Flat Earther, but for many of the members in the Fort Collins Flat Earth group, God is all that they have known.

Now I am coming full circle (pun intended), it seems that the reason for many to believe in the flat earth theory and deny science is because modern science and modern religion are completely incompatible.
According to science, humans evolved and were not created, according to science the universe is endless so humans are insignificant, slimming the chance that they are gods creation.

It was a joy to view the beliebers stand up and explain why they think that the earth is flat. The basic answer is: I feel it is, I can see it is. I can´t see it´s not flat, therefore it´s flat.

But wouldn´t that way of thinking create a also agree with I can´t see god so god can´t see me😁
Just kidding, the loophole would be if I can not see god he is not there.

Garfunkel and Oates | “The Loophole”

Bottom Line

I think that this belief that the world is flat is there for people who are afraid to feel insignificant and small in this immense universe.
These believers want to feel important, they want to feel like gods children.
They want the world to be created by a greater power, that loves them best. Probably they want that greater power also to deliver proof of the fact that women were truly made from the rib of a man.

They want to feel important, they want to feel as if they are the center of creation, they just want to get closer to god.

Hope you enjoyed my look at flat earth, and let me know what I need to do more to convince you that the earth is just a bucket floating through space.

This is a well detailed scientific post with a lot of information and proof that the earth is round.
You must have really done a lot of research to have come up with all this written proofs.

Well-done dear friend with this discovery shared with us

Thanks, I did spend hours, but most time went into finding out that motivation because the debunking is easy. But understanding the people that keep believing is so much more interesting.

A very detailed article coupled with tunes to agree to disagree on the earth being flat.

Waltzed in through dreemport.

Your post made me remember when I was still a child and heard for the first time the world was round, I mean I was like how is even possible, the world seems flat but science has proved otherwise.

It was a joy to view the beliebers stand up and explain why they think that the earth is flat. The basic answer is: I feel it is, I can see it is. I can´t see it´s not flat, therefore it´s fla

I guess there will always be a controversial view about creation between believers and scientist,
evolution versus creationism.
So many theories so many beliefs.

Thank you for writing this.

BS! All of it! The earth is a disk, held up by a couple of elephants on top of a giant turtle floating around space. Everyone knows that! Don't they?
But yeah, there are several reasons why some people believe the earth is flat.
Conspiracy theorists are called this for a reason: It immediately takes away their credibility. Now, in many ways, I am a conspiracy theorist (according to 'them') but I've always laughed about the reasoning behind the flat earth...
Until I attended Anarchapulco and met a Spanish pilot who had worked for British Airways for more than 25 years and was fired for refusing to take the covid vaccine.
A few of us were hanging out in the area where all the cool kids hang out (the smoker's area 😆) and this pilot (who absolutely seemed like a very sane man to me. After all: he had transported tens of thousands of people from numerous places in the world to the other for years) joined us. After the usual chit-chat, one of the people there said: 'But the earth is flat!' and he replied: "I am not denying that, and would love to have a discussion about it." I didn't wait for the discussion but I am planning to talk to him about it next year...

It didn't change my mind. I still believe it's a disc world on top of a giant turtle...
BUT, WHO cares? I will fight for what I know is right. If there are things that are unjust and I know I am on the right side of history, I will defend them by any means. However, I believe that this whole flat earth - globe earth discussion has been put into our world for a reason: division.
Yeah, some religious people are freaks. Absolutely. But not all flat earthers are religious, as you've already mentioned, and not all religious people are flat earthers. However, now, with these discussions coming to life these past few years, ALL of the above seem to be the same. According to 'the others'. ALL of them are religious freaks, ALL of them are flat earthers, ALL of them are anti-semitic Trump-loving extreme right, science-denying terrorists...Or in short: conspiracy theorists...

Fact is: science isn't fact until it is. And until then, we're all just guessing.

Hindu mythology is so much more fun than the bible indeed! Not denying is not the same as agreeing, but in the end it doesn´t really matter. I just love a good conspiracy theory but this one I will leave for the anti-semitic Trump-loving extreme right, science-denying religious freaks.

OMG! Are you telling me my turtle God is drifting on a large body of water and not in space? Well, it must be true. Because there's a picture of it. After all: everything we can perceive with our eyes is absolute truth. 😉

And yes, Hindu, or better: Brahmanian, or EVEN better: ARYAN mythology is best... I am such a stubborn little miss, that I even named my son after the oldest religious cult on earth 😆

What we do to our children.... My boy is called Kyrian-Elijah, Raven, Osiris, Sorin, Sky to cover all elements and a couple of religions 🤪

Jeez....Do you hate your child? Did you ever stick him in school? I remember hating having to spell out all my names and I only had 3 first names, one CRAZY surname, and a nickname which was the name I've been called all my life but is nowhere to be found other than on the birth announcement card...
In the Netherlands that's OK, and was quite common but EVERYWHERE else I have to explain why they didn't put that name in my birth cert and passport, and that it IS actually my name and not those in my birth cert and passport.
I've hated my parents for that for a long time hahaha.

My kids?
Skyleigh Sierra but she calls herself Skye. Even though I used to call her that and she'd put her hands in her side and exclaim that her name was SkyLEIGH and NOT Skye!
Sinatra Chris (named after two singers, one of which was dead, the other later, she mentions this often, how she's named after two singers that 'suck' in her opinion)
Keanu Hi'ilani Kanoa because we couldn't decide on just one name, and they just had to be Hawaiian, plus the meaning fit his character...(yeah, he hated me for that, couldn't write his own name till he was 10)
And Aryan Shae. Aryan because I loved the meaning and where it came from, and because I thought Arya Stark was as bad-ass as they come, and it would have been his name if he were a girl. Shae because, well, daddio is Irish and I wanted to give him something Irish hahaha.
So there. We're both great parents! 🤪

Those are great even the Irish one and Oh yes that was it his last name is Skye with the e indeed, but not SkyeLeigh although that is awesome. And yes he is cool with it because we made sure it had a cool acronym Kross. But here in Spain we just say its Kyrian-Elijah but his official doc has al the names

No, her name is Skyleigh, without the E, but she calls herself Skye with an E haha.
Funny story: a friend of mine has a son called Kyrian (Dutch, living in Ireland because they followed us there) and he's exactly 15 hours and 15 minutes younger than my Skye.
She was born at 4.20 am (SO DAMN COOL!) and he was born at 7.35 pm (not so cool haha)
