My First Power Up On Hive

avatar

Yes! I powered up on Hive for the very first time.

It's been less than a Month since I joined Hive and about 2 weeks since I made my Introduction Post. I was warmly welcomed to the platform and got loads of support from people who hardly know me.
I've been navigating through the system trying to engage in as many communities as possible as I seek for a niche and that has drawn me to the awareness of the importance of Hive Power.

I was speaking to @Samostically yesterday & he began to explain alot of things to me. He also mentioned why powering up is a good way to go.

I've made some few other posts ever since my Introduction Post and I decided to convert all the HBD I've acquired so far to Liquid Hive and power up.

Now for Newbies like me who probably don't understand what powering up means & why it's important, here's a brief explanation:

I've learned that incomes from posts are usually divided into 2:

  • HBD ( Hive Backed Dollar) &
  • HP (Hive Power).

The HBD is liquid Hive & can be withdrawn whenever you want. On the other hand, the Hive Power is Solid 😂(Staked Hive is the right word though); meaning you'd have to power down to Liquid Hive before you can withdraw. Now, the importance of this HP though is to help you interact & engage in the Hive blockchain. It helps recharge your RC (Resource Credit) faster, this RC is what enables you make post, comments & basically engage on the platform.

It also helps sustain activities carried out on the chain & that is quite important. It helps build you curation rewards meaning you are able to get back rewards from up-voting posts.

Recently I was unable to make comments or engage on the platform because my resource credit was low & I need more HP. Luckily I was delegated a total of 70HP from both @readthisplease & @Samostically. I would love to return the favour sometime to newbies with low HP by delegating HP to them & that's one reason I have decided to grow my account by powering up ever so often.

The Process ...

I had initially, 15.099 HBD. I converted it to Hive in the Currency Market & that yielded 8.961 Hive

I went on to Power Up

Yeah! Now I'm all powered up now & I'm glad I made the move. Yes, it's a small power up but now I have another goal in place.

Truth is, I'm not comfortable with the fact that I have to get delegations to be able to engage & that's why I'm inspired to work & grow my account so I can be of help to the community.

2022 is going to be a great Hive year & I look forward to maximizing every opportunity it brings.

Actually HBD is not liquid HP, that is HIVE. We have HIVE and HBD. You can alter your payouts by either going 50%/50% which pays half in HP/half in HBD. Or you can opt for 100% HP.

Powering up is a good thing since it allows you more influence on the network. There are also going to be airdrops, we can only presume, in the future, that will apply to HP.

Even if it doesnt, keep growing the HP until you are at least to 550. That is your first target. It might take a year but you can get there.

Also, learn about the Hive-Engine tokens. All of them can help you along your journey.

Nice to see your content, your dedication and Interest on Hive is really, you are doing great. But HBD is not liquid Hive, HBD is the stable coin in the Hive blockchain valued at $1 but backed by Hive.

😂 you can say Hive Power is solid, I love how you used that.

Glad I came across this
As a newbie, it’s really helpful information
Thanks for sharing! I was also unable to engage on the platform earlier today until @young-boss-karin came to my rescue
I’m actually just realizing she must have delegated some HP to me. Thanks a lot for that sis!
I definitely have a lot to learn
