Cachamay Stadium in Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela [ENG/ESP]
Greetings to everyone in the community ! Beforehand I want to apologize for being absent in this wonderful community that from the first moment I started to publish, I received unconditional support for my publications, now I want to return to be more committed to this great community, where we all share our reviews with reference to architecture. This time I show and talk about the imposing soccer stadium Cachamay, which is a name that has indigenous origin, likewise so is called one of the most important waterfalls of the city and a natural park, where the waterfall is located in the city of Puerto Ordaz, Bolivar state - Venezuela.
This sports venue underwent a major remodeling, until it was left with the building we see in these photographs, because previously some of these structures did not exist. Initially this stadium was known by the name of Gino Scarigella, until 1990, under the tutelage of one of the companies of the C.V.G. in charge of the exploitation of different minerals in the city, inaugurated what would become the Cachamay sports stadium, because this stadium is part of a large sports complex, where there are basketball courts, baseball and even some smaller soccer fields, for the minor categories and training.

De antemano quiero pedir disculpas, por estar ausente en esta maravillosa comunidad que desde el primer momento que comencé a publicar, recibí el apoyo incondicional hacia mis publicaciones, ahora quiero volver a estar más comprometido en esta grandiosa comunidad, donde todos compartimos nuestras reseñas con referencia a la arquitectura. En esta oportunidad les muestro y hablo sobre el imponente estadio de fútbol Cachamay, que es un nombre que tiene origen indígena, de igual forma así se llama unas de las cascadas más importante de la ciudad y un parque natural, donde se encuentra dicha cascada, ubicándose en la ciudad de Puerto Ordaz, estado Bolívar - Venezuela.
Este recinto deportivo pasó por una importante remodelación, hasta quedar con la edificación que vemos en estas fotografías, debido a que anteriormente algunas de estas estructuras no existían. Inicialmente este estadio se conocía con el nombre de Gino Scarigella, hasta que en 1990, bajo la tutela de unas de las empresas de la C.V.G encargada en la explotación de diferentes minerales en la ciudad, inaugura lo que se sería el estadio como polideportivo Cachamay, debido a que este estadio forma parte de un gran complejo deportivo, donde hay canchas de basquet, béisbol e incluso unos campos de fútbol de menor dimensión, para las categorías menores y de entrenamiento.
At first this stadium was under the coordination of the C.V.G., a conglomerate of companies of the city, then it would become a foundation with the same name of Cachamay, who would have the administration of this stadium, and would be the home of first division soccer teams such as Mineros de Guayana and the extinct Minerven SC team. It was undoubtedly an exciting place for the soccer lovers of the area, so much so that the rivalry of the great derby between Mineros de Guayana and Minerven SC was witnessed.
After almost 17 years of its last remodeling, Venezuela was selected to host the Copa America 2007, and the government of that time was in charge of hiring a Mexican contractor, with the name of ICA, who would be in charge of expanding the structures of the stadium, to increase its seating capacity. To have an idea, this stadium initially had a total capacity of around 14,000 people, to later have more than 41,000 people, all due to the Copa America, which would be one of the most important events of that year, and stadiums with greater seating capacity were needed.
En principio este estadio, estuvo bajo la coordinación de la C.V.G, conglomerado de empresas de la ciudad, luego pasaría a ser una fundación con el mismo nombre de Cachamay, quien tendría la administración de este estadio, y sería la casa de equipos de primera división de fútbol como Mineros de Guayana y el extinto equipo Minerven SC. Sin duda era un lugar apasionante para los amantes del fútbol de la zona, tanto así que se presenciaba de la rivalidad del gran derby entre Mineros de Guayana contra Minervén SC.
Luego de casi 17 años de su última remodelación, Venezuela es seleccionada como sede de la Copa América 2007, y el gobierno de ese tiempo se encargó de contratar una contratista mexicana, con el nombre de ICA, quienes se encargarían de hacer un ampliación de las estructuras del estadio, para aumentar su capacidad del aforo. Para tener una idea, este estadio inicialmente tenía una aforo total alrededor de 14000 personas, para luego llegar a tener más de 41000 personas, todo debido a la Copa América, que sería unos de los eventos más importantes de ese año, y se necesitaba de estadios con mayor capacidad de aforo.
The old Cachamay stadium only had two large structures, such as the main grandstand and the popular grandstand, then in 2006, the entire popular grandstand was expanded by making a connection on the north and south side of the stadium, which was made mostly with reinforced concrete and a canvas roof, in order to cover all the stands, both south, north and popular grandstand. In addition, facilities were added for administrative offices and a series of boxes and areas for the presentation, which previously did not exist in the old Cachamay. The dressing rooms for the soccer players were also refurbished and the parking lot was improved to allow better access for cars.
The soccer field has dimensions of 105x70 m, with natural grass and an Olympic track around it. On the other hand, according to what is known, there was an investment of more than 70 million dollars for the remodeling of this stadium, which currently has the presence of 2 Venezuelan second division soccer teams such as Fundación AIFI and Bolívar SC, while the traditional Venezuelan first division team Mineros de Guayana is present in the stadium.
El antiguo estadio Cachamay, solo contaba con dos grandes estructuras, como la tribuna principal y la tribuna popular, luego en el 2006, se ampliaría toda la tribuna popular haciendo una conexión en lado norte y sur del estadio, que se realizó mayormente con concreto armado, y un techo de lona, para así cubrir la totalidad de las tribunas, tanto del sur, norte y la tribuna popular. Además, se le incorporó instalaciones para oficinas administrativas y una serie de palcos vía y zonas para la presenta, que anteriormente no existían con el antiguo Cachamay. También se hizo una restauración de los camerinos para los jugadores de fútbol y un mejor condicionamiento del estacionamiento, de manera que pudiera un mejor acceso a los carros.
Mientras que el campo de fútbol, tiene unas dimensiones de 105x70 m, siendo una grama natural, y con una pista olímpica al su alrededor. Por otro lado, según se tiene que hubo una inversión de más de 70 millones de dólares para la remodelación de este estadio, que actualmente hacen presencia 2 equipos de segunda división del fútbol venezolano como Fundación AIFI y Bolívar SC, mientras que por la primera división de Venezuela, se hace presente el tradicional equipo Mineros de Guayana.
For me, it is exciting to share this review and photographs of this stadium, which I saw how it went through the transformation, becoming one of the most structured stadiums nationwide, becoming an architectural and soccer heritage jewel for the region of Bolivar. For those who are interested in the Internet you can find photographs of how this stadium was in the past and now as we can see it, which had a little maintenance recently for reasons of a game for the classification of the World Cup, a match that took place between Venezuela vs Colombia.

Para mí, es emocionante compartir esta reseña y fotografías de este estadio, que ví como pasó por la transformación, llegar a ser unos de los estadios con mayor estructura a nivel nacional, convirtiéndose en una joya patrimonial arquitectónico y futbolístico para la región de Bolívar. Para quienes estén interesados en Internet pueden encontrar fotografías de como era este estadio antiguamente y ahora como lo podemos apreciar, que tuvo un pequeño mantenimiento recientemente por motivos de un juego para la clasificación del mundial de fútbol, encuentro que se realizó entre Venezuela vs Colombia.

This is one of the most beautiful stadiums I have visited in Venezuela. And the truth is that they have maintained it very well in spite of all the changes of hand it has had. Beautiful photographs, as always, a good job full of symmetry, color and different shots. A big hug 🙏🤍🙌💖

Recuerdo que una vez, como parte de pago de un trabajo, me invitaron a conocer el sitio, con un guia y todo aquello.. ¿A que no sabes quien se arrepiente de no haber ido?
