Why was this animal juice next to their toothpaste and shoe polish?

I was wondering at those bottles of calcium borogluconate as well. Makes perfect sense that they'd have to feed it to dairy cows, given the awful conditions to which they're subjected. But why so many empty bottles inside the house? Maybe they figured if it's good for the cows, they could just skip drinking milk and go straight to the supplement? 🤢

I tend to be fascinated with these things, especially the ephemera, and trying to piece together details of long-forgotten lives. This one left me with a LOT of unanswered questions, though. Wish I lived close enough to explore it myself!
