IDENTIFYING AND MANAGING SHORT TEMPER 😑

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog at this hour. Anger is an emotional state that is peculiar to all human beings but the only difference is how we manage and control it. Some people do not know when to stop their anger to the extent that a lot of things would have been damaged beyond repair. Actually, anger is an inevitable emotion that may serve as a shield against a potential threat or harm. Well, sit back, relax and enjoy all that I have packaged for your reading pleasure.

Anger becomes extreme when you develop a feeling of boiling rage at frequent intervals and this may require a closer attention. This kind of people are often referred to as short tempered. Perhaps you're furious about not getting your order served as quick as you want or you feel irritated by the vehicle in your front that is driving slowly or even let hell loose on your partner for not remembering to do something you told them to do.

A short temper is an emotional state that people would not want to acquire even if it comes for free or at a promo price. Imagine a store selling short temper during black Friday sales, the store would be as empty as you can imagine. Being short tempered would make people to be cautious around you in order not to step on your toes. Friends would be afraid to play too much with you because they'd not know the exact point when you will get pissed off and become the other way around. On the other hand, getting angry easily does not affect people around you only, it also affects your physical and mental health negatively.

Are you unsure whether you are short tempered?

Let's walk through some of these signs of short temper together...

It is not out of place to scream, yell, shout, squeeze objects hard and even cry when you are angry. But short tempered people have some common characteristics that are peculiar to them which are often exhibited in an intense manner.

This characteristics includes:

  • Having difficulties to breath well when they are angry
  • Becoming excessively irritated
  • Heart beats fast when they see their what triggers their anger

A short tempered person often feel bad after they have expressed their annoyance in an explosive manner. This is simply because they do not have control over it - it does not come in a systematic way - it is like a bomb. This is the reason why most short tempered people feel some sense of remorse or even cry, owing to the fact that they know they have done too much.

It is time to work on your anger when you realize that after a few times that you have expressed your anger in a violent way, your friends, and colleagues are careful about what they say around you in order not to be your next victim of violent outburst. I had a friend in secondary school that has short temper and I was able to maintain my friendship with him by knowing when to distance myself away from him and when to be close to him. I have been on the receiving end of his chronic outbursts on several occasions but knowing when and when not to do certain things helped me to keep him at bay. A short tempered person may not be able to enjoy the full benefits of friendship or companionship if he or she doesn't work on their emotions - because people wouldn't know when your anger will be triggered, so they may not be too free with you.

How do you manage anger?
Anger is an emotional state that is inevitable for every human as I have said earlier. You are not expected to be happy when certain things happen to you in life. That's the essence of being human - the ability to feel and react to things differently.
It is healthy to get angry when you

  • lose a job opportunity
  • fail an examination
  • get heartbroken
  • burn your food
  • get robbed of your valuables
  • etc

However, if you get angry constantly, it may pose some threat to your well-being and that of people around you. This is where curtailing your anger comes into play.

Are you ready to control your anger? Then try some of these tips:

  • It is possible to speak without thinking when you are in the heat of the moment, so try to calm down, think and speak. This way you save yourself from saying or doing what you will regret.
  • Try as much as possible to express your anger in an assertive way. Do not try to be confrontational or hurt others either with your words or actions. Express your thoughts and concern in a direct manner without trying to compel others to do your wish.
  • Spending some time doing the things you like may reduce stress that can escalate your anger. Play some video games, watch some movies or comedy skits or go for a walk when you feel like you might be getting pissed about something.
  • Learn to be humorous. Some sense of humor can lighten up a tense environment and make a potential unpleasant experience turn into a memorable one.
  • Seek help from friends, family or experts that you are comfortable with.

While anger may be powerful, it can be controlled. The major aim is not to completely eradicate anger from your life but to control it so that it doesn't get the better of you.

nice post.. and today so many people are really short tempered.. and understandably so
one of the best ways to get through is also i think meditation.. though its not easy to start.. well it is quite easy really, but for some reason very few manage to do it..
