For some people, we are lucky to have simple patterns that help us to unlock sleep easily when every other person may be struggling with it. Personally, I do not like to sleep with light on but my wife enjoys her sleep when the lights are on. So, I have devised the means of covering my face with a pillow each time the lights is affecting my sleep and it has been working for me. Within a short while I will be far gone in my sleep.

There are other people who have the patterns they follow in order to be able to catch a sleep as quick as possible like taking a shower some minutes before bedtime. There are some people who may be unable to sleep comfortably if they haven't changed into their night wears/pajamas. Others may love to read some few pages in a book or listen to cool songs (or any genre of their choice) in order to unwind and get in the sleeping mood.

There is no one-way traffic in hacking the act of sleeping well especially at night because each individual have their unique body system and what works for Mr A may not work for Mr B. However, the key thing to do in order to getting the best out of your sleep is to make sure that you practice healthy routine as well as making the best use of your environment (bedroom in this case).

This may mean that you have to try different patterns to be able to know the one that works best for you. However, if it is becoming extremely difficult for you to have a good sleep you may have to talk to a medical professional who will advise you on the best possible way to go about it. It may be that you are passing through some emotional or mental stress that is making you to have sleepless nights or even unhealthy habits like drinking late into the night, smoking, etc. Your doctor will be in the best position to offer you healthy advice that will improve your sleep.

More importantly, it is not enough to practice healthy routines before bedtime, it is also vital to take some moment to look at your mattress, pillow, bedspread, duvet etc to be sure that they are not too old or uncomfortable. The constant use of uncomfortable mattress or pillow can cause severe back and neck pain or even cause you to wake up at intervals at night. It is crucial to sleep on a bed that will give your body the support that it needs and not one that will sink in the moment you lay on it.

Do you know that the blue light that emit from your mobile phone, computer and television set can disrupt the flow of your sleep!? Yes, it has been verified that using gadgets late into the night before your bedtime can affect the quality of your sleep. So, it is advisable that you do away with your phone or television at least thirty minutes before you go to bed. There are people who are found of watching movies late into the night on their bed, some of them may have difficulty sleeping because they are using their bed for multiple purpose. The bed should be solely for rest and not for relaxation or working. The moment you lay on your bed all your body system should know that you are about to sleep.

Another important tip that you can find useful is that any time you realize that you have been in bed for close to thirty minutes to one hour and you are unable to sleep, you should get up from the bed and find something relaxing to do. There are those nights when you find it difficult to sleep and you keep turning from one edge of the bed to the other, checking the time at intervals and so on. One of the things you can do to help improve your sleep for the night is to listen to some music, read a book, or even pray. Then after some time you can come back to bed to give it a try one more time.

It can be frustrating to experience difficulties in sleeping especially having had a stressful day but by taking careful consideration of your lifestyle, routine and environment you can improve your sleep.
