Many families are living together under the same roof yet are very far from each other because they do not balance family time with work, leisure and other aspects of their life. Spending quality time with your kids and family makes you learn a lot from them and about them. It also helps you to connect as a big family. This can be achieved by establishing a day or two in the week to watch movies, play games, or have breakfast/lunch/dinner together which everyone must endeavor to be available no matter their tight schedule.

There are some days that should be memorable in your family that when you all sit down and talk about it in five or ten years time everyone will remember the beautiful memories. There are some days in the year when you all are present in the house such as festive periods, public holidays or even on rare occasions like a rainy day. Perhaps, on a beautiful morning when you all are ready to go to work or school, whichever the case may be, and it suddenly started raining that no one could leave the house. These moments should be utilized to the fullest to create lasting memories in the family because they occur once in a while. The whole family can spend time together preparing breakfast or engage in an interesting activity with the aim of spending time together as a family.

If not for anything try to make it a point of duty to have mealtime together as a family, whether it's breakfast before going to work/school in the morning or dinner when everyone is back home in the evening. This may be a little difficult when kids get older and have a different routine from others but nevertheless a day or two during the week will not be a bad idea. There are numerous positive benefits of sitting together on a table having meals together as a family especially for the growing kids.

While I was growing up, I used to represent my school in quiz competitions, and my brothers use to represent their school and our church in sport competitions and I could remember how we use to go to those events to cheer them up. This is also a great way to create family bond. As a family you can encourage your kids to cheer up their siblings who are participating in one competition or another either sports, cooking, technology etc. This could be a morale booster for your child to get the winning prize as well. He or she will be highly motivated to see his or her parents and siblings clapping and cheering for the win.

I should have made mention of this earlier but it's not too late as it is a key way to bond with your kids. When you assist your kids with their assignments after school everyday, you'd be able to know more about their academic lifestyle, the friends they keep in school and the activities they engage in during break hours and lots more.

The bond you create with your kids when they are growing up will last a lifetime and it can be achieved by spending quality time together as a family.
