The Fruit of Lack of Openness in Marriages

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog at this hour. The lack of openness in marriage have cost so many men and women their peace of mind to the extent that their children also share from this seed of distrust. There are huge problems looming when partners begin to hide stuffs from each other. We get to hear scary stories of families that have been in disarray on a daily basis due to their personal wrong choices either in finance, career or even seeing someone else other than their partner. I was speaking to a colleague earlier in the week who was sharing an experience with me about a man who has two families in the same State (this is unknown to either of the wives). The man was married to the first wife for about seven years without giving birth to any child so he decided to marry another woman. The second woman gave birth to two children, boy (7yrs) and a girl (10yrs). The man gave the wives the impression that he's working out of town, so he has to travel almost throughout the month. So, each time he wants to spend time with the first wife he will tell the second wife that he's traveling on a business trip for about two weeks and vice versa.

He did this for several years without either of them suspecting any foul play. On a fateful day, it was time to visit the second wife, so he told the first wife that he's traveling out of town and would not be back until about two weeks. Just for her to receive a phone call later that day that her husband was involved in a ghastly accident with another woman and two children. The woman and the male child died instantly but the girl child survived the crash. The man was in coma for several days before he finally died.

Now, the only survivor, the girl child is the only one alive to clear the air about the numerous questions that are left unanswered. The first wife find it hard to believe that her husband had another family that she's isn't aware of. It was very painful that she wish the man will wake up to answer all the questions that she have in her mind. She became so dejected and demoralized about the situation at hand and the sound of she raising a child her husband had for another woman. What is more disheartening is that the man has gone to the great beyond and he'd not be able to defend his actions anymore.

This is just one out of many martial issues that people go through due to lack of openness. It has ruined the life of many partners especially when one of them is no more to provide answers to all the questions that arise. This man may have done the right thing by being open to his wife that he want to marry another wife (if his religion permits it) or keep on waiting on the lord instead of putting the life of his wife and a young girl in chaos. We should be mindful of the consequences of our actions before we make them and think of the people who will be affected. Marriage is a union that is meant to be enjoyed and not endured because of the misaction of one of the partners.
