THE RAINING SEASON IS HERE ☔

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog at this hour. For a couple of weeks we have been experiencing intermittent downpour at different times in the day and often times it starts at hours that are not too convenient. Most people do not appreciate when it starts to rain when they are about to go to work or when they want to close from work. The dry season have finally come to an end even though the rainfall is not really intense yet. Well, sit back, relax and enjoy all that I have packaged for your reading pleasure.

One of the most challenging part of the raining season is that it may start during times when you do not expect because it will restrict your movement especially if you are not mobile. Even in some situations when the rain is very serious, people who are mobile may have to park their vehicles and wait till the rain subsides before they proceed to avoid accidents. Aircrafts may not be able to fly due to the bad weather and this may lead to people missing important appointments.

In addition, most people kind of dislike the raining season because no matter how neatly dressed you are or how shiny your shoes are they will get wet or messy when the rain starts all of a sudden. In Nigeria where most of our roads are bad, it may be difficult to walk from one point to another without getting your shoes in the mud during the raining season. Not only that, it is usually hard to get public transportation when the rain is about to start or some minutes after it has ended.

Most cabs have to park their vehicles the moment they see signs that it is about to rain because they do not have a working wiper. It is almost impossible to drive without a wiper that is in a good condition when it is raining. Apart from that some drivers find it difficult to drive easily in a raining weather just the way some hardly drive at night due to the reflection from the head lamps of the cars behind. So, all these and more reasons make the number of cars on the road reduce.

Well, this was the exact situation that I found myself this evening after I closed at the office. The rain started about thirty minutes before the closing hour and lasted about another thirty minutes before it stopped. However, the few people, especially the ladies that had umbrella left earlier but the rest of us had to wait until it was minimal. After all this it was hell to get a cab. The few ones that were available were rushed by the crowd that are on the streets. I was able to get one after so much tussle and it was at that point that I realized that I need car of my own to ease my movement.

In all of this, the raining season is still my favorite of all the three seasons that we have in Nigeria. This may be linked to the fact that the weather is mostly cool. The last dry season that ended some weeks ago wasn't too pleasant due to the extreme heat coupled with epileptic power supply to make use of electric fan or AC. Also, the rain is crucial to the growth of crops that are planted in the farm. We may experience high cost of food if there is no abundance of rain because the few farmers that water their farm through other means may have no choice than to increase the price of their produce.
