It's my birthday! Your wishes would be appreciated

Birthday is one remarkable day in everyone's life where one is called to have a reflection of his/her life here on Earth. It's a day set aside for celebration (if need be) of ones existence. I'm grateful to God for bringing me this far.

Since I was born, I never placed my hands on a cake, cutting it or making wishes as the case may be all in the name of "my birthday" with an exception for last year's birthday which made me 21 years old.

Today marks 22nd years of my existence and I would love to share my experiences so far.

As you all know my name is Wilfred Patrick, born and raised in Nigeria. My father is a retired teacher and my mother is a nurse.
I grew up in an environment full of violence, jealousy and mischief, so my parents never allowed me go outside to have fun playing with other kids in the environment to avoid any kind of trouble. I always felt sad and cried a lot of times about that but all to no avail. The only time I had a chance to play was in the nursery School when classes had finished. We move to my high school.

The name of my high school was AirForce comprehensive school. Since it was a school under the Federal Government of Nigeria and controlled by the military, I have always been afraid of falling victim in the hands of any soldier to avoid punishment. It was a boarding school were parent visit to see their ward thrice a session and pick them home at the end of an academic session.
Well, this was where I had the best fun of my life.

Today I'm in the university studying computer engineering. It's a course I've always had passion for but it's sad that the school system of my country at this level is not well endowed to get you say, "this is the computer engineering I wanted".
They say "there's no excuse for failure". So instead of placing all hope in school, online classes served it purpose too as I keep improving myself everyday.

Right from when I joined the steemit community till the inception of the hive community, I must say that this communities have been an encouragement and support to me. The likes of @nathanmars, @oracle-d, @theycallmedan, @citimillz and every single one of you out there have in one way or the other supported me here and I appreciate!

I share my birthday with everyone here cos we're not just a community, we're family!
