What I Learnt from Brother Eli Soriano and Brother Daniel Razon in today's zoom meeting: 5th September 2023

Praise the Lord Jesus Christ people of God and good day to my MCGI church family of Christ. It's another glorious day and an opportunity to listen to God's word. I was again greatly blessed by the ministrations of Brother Eli Soriano and Brother Daniel Razon. It was my devotion and I just want to take the opportunity to share what I learnt so others can also benefit, especially those who couldn't get the time and opportunity to join us. Again I will write all the scriptures used at the end of the article so you can also be blessed.

Brother Daniel Razon:

Brother Daniel Razon open up todays teaching by continuing from where he left of yesterday, speaking on controlling your tongue and what comes out of our mouth. He thought us at the beginning that we must keep studying the word of God, because it is what makes us grow, builds us and makes us wise for a successful life.

We revisited yesterdays main text given to us by Brother Eli Soriano.

Matthew 12:37 KJV
For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

We looked at it today through Hebrews 12:14

Hebrews 12:14 KJV
Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

He made us to understand that a man needs to be holy and sanctified to see God. He then explained that what comes out of our mouth when not guided can be evil from 1 Peter 3:9-12.

1 Peter 3:9-12 KJV
Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing. [10] For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: [11] Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. [12] For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

We see from verse 10 that we need to refrain our tongue from evil. And we know that anything evil is not holy, so therefore our mouths can make us unholy preventing us from seeing God as the bible says without which man cannot see God.

Also we saw from this scripture in verse 10 as it says "if you want to see good days, we must control our tongue". Therefore our success in life can be influenced by what we say.

Again we realized from the same verse (1 Peter 3:9-10) that if we want God to hear our prayers and answer them we must really watch what comes out of our mouth. He said in verse 12 that his ears are open to the righteous person and his face is against them that do evil. If words then can be evil, it means our mouths can turn God's ears away from us. Isn't that concerning?

We went on to see the other sides of this topic from

Proverbs 16:28 KJV
A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.

We saw that a man who doesn't guide his tongue can unintentionally end up creating confusion amongst people, provoking anger in others by what the carelessly say.
Man is often careless when speaking, so sometimes it cause contention. Therefore we should control our tongue to prevent strife.

We then saw from

Romans 2:4 KJV
Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

This is where I was really blessed as Bro. Eli Soriano explained that God has long-suffering and the intention is that he is patiently waiting for people to repent from their sins and change their ways. This is why is seems God does not avenge speedily. I always wondered why God did not fight those who did me evil immediately. I got my answer today. They are also children of God and God wants to save them too. Like Jesus and Steven prayed for the people who where killing them, so must we do same. We must be as patient as God is to avenge our enemies.

Brother Eli should us from Acts 2:36-38

Acts 2:36-38 KJV
Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. [37] Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? [38] Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

We see here that the people gained opportunity to change because Christ did not avenge them rather forgave them and waited patiently for their repentance

Anger

We ended today by learning extensively on the issue of Anger. We saw that anger can lead to medical complications.

To deal with anger do some of these:

  1. Talk to someone
  2. Take a walk or exercise
  3. Step away from the source of anger
  4. Refrain our tongue from speaking
  5. Change our thoughts

We lastly learnt how we should treat naughty children, as Brother Eli Soriano explained to us. We must discipline them with love. The bible makes us to understand that foolishness is bound in the heart of a child and it's the rod of correction that takes it away. So therefore when a child does something wrong he must be disciplined but with love in our heart not with anger.

Today was a real game changer for me, can't wait for what's coming tomorrow. Thank you for taking time to read my notes. God bless you and stay blessed.

Just as God has given us a second chance, we must learn how forgive our brethren also when they make us angry. Thanks brother for sharing.

It's remarkable how controlling our tongue can profoundly influence our relationship with God and others. May you continue searching for God's truth brother

Very true brother, Jesus was being crucified, he said father forgive them. Steven was being stoned he said father forgive them. If we are to be like hime then we are to forgive people who are even hurting us. It's not easy but that's the goal
