Hey my loving Asean Hive community,
How it is going? In our country, covid is still a bit quiet. However, commodity prices are slightly higher than before. My dad grows some vegetables in a small yard so my family can save some money. My family also earns some extra income by selling surplus vegetables to vendors. Yesterday, two roselle leaf plants planted by my father were damaged by heavy rains. My father replanted those two plants today. And my father picked some roselle leaves from some other roselle leaf plants. I have a picture of that roselle leaf above. My mother's friend also gave some young bamboo shoots from the village today. Today my mother asked me to mix and friar the young bamboo shoots and roselle leaf today. So, I mixed and fried those two today.

In the past, my cooking skills were not very good. These days, my cooking scale has improved because I often help my mother with dinner. The dish I cooked today is a Myanmar dish. Most Myanmar people know and love this dish. Let me first tell you about the ingredients needed for this recipe

Ingredients

• Cooking oil
• A little salt

First, I thoroughly washed the young bamboo shoots with water. Then I cut the young bamboo shoots into small pieces with a knife. Then I rinsed them thoroughly with water.

I also washed the roselle leaves.

Now it's time to crush garlic, onion and pepper. Before I do that, I wash the dried shrimp thoroughly. Then I soaked the dried shrimp in water a little while.

First, I crush the garlic and onion. Then I put the chili in it and crushed it up again. I also put dried prawns and crush them again. You can smell the onion and garlic when crushing. If you want to be vegetarian, you do not need to add dried shrimp. If you do not add dried prawns, it tastes also very good.

Now I am ready to start cooking this dish.

First, I put the oil in a pan and heated it. When the oil is hot, I add and fried the crushed thing. I also added some salt.

When I smell the onion, I add the roselle leaf and stir. After a while, I added young bamboo shoots. Stir in the young bamboo shoots until cooked and you have a delicious roselle leaves and young bamboo shoots.

This dish is very easy to cook. And it tastes good. I did not take my mother's help in cooking this dish today. My mother told me that my cooking skills had improved after eating this dish. I also want to try other dishes to improve my cooking skills.

Thank you all. 🍇

Oh, never try roselle leaves. How about the taste, bitter or not? I wonder :)

There are two types of roselle leaves in my country. One has a bitter taste and the other has a slightly sour taste. The roselle leaves I use are not bitter.I mixed these leaves with chili and garlic so it tastes is a slightly sour and spicy.

What a lovely dish, I could almost smell it as I saw the ingredients hit the oil. You are a very good cook in my opinion, especially for your age. When I was about 14, I began to make very complex recipes, but it wasn't because my parents were good cooks, it was because they are terrible cooks 😁.

I went to the public library and checked about a book about Thai cooking, and that is when my tastes began to beyond the USA.

It looks delicious! Normally I drink roselle flowers and I really love its taste but I have never know we can eat roselle leaves too. Does its taste is like its flowers or not?

In my country, some people make roselle flower jam. Its taste is a bit similar.
