Paso Robles Rhone Style Blend

Hello Hive! So if you have been following along my wine blog, you would think that I only drink French wine's. Well this is not the case, and in fact it is just something that I have just started to do. I live on the Coast of California, where many great wines are made. In my region it is known for there cool climate wines, such as Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay. There are also some killer Syrah's coming out from this area. Then just to the north is the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA. If you drive about 80 miles south, you would end up in another well known wine region, Paso Robles

Something that I always do when I drink on a good wine, is go to their website. I found something out that was very interesting with this New World Rhone Style red blend. The Perrin Family that have been established in the famous French region of Chateauneuf du Pape for decades, formed a partnership with Robert Haas of Tablas Creek Vinyard to grow their cuts of vines in Paso Robles! By cuts, I mean clones. Another reason on how my love for cannabis formed my relationship with wine.

So how does this New World CDP compare to the real thing? The verdict is still out. Unfortnaly I have not had many CDP's in my life, it is a pricey wine. Your looking at the minimum of 40 USD as an entry point. But I have had a couple, and each one is something I will never forget. Damn great wine! This one was good, but I would not say it is on the same level. But do not get me wrong, this wine was lovely after a 1 hour decant. Being a 2019, it is a tad young, and would benefit with another 3-4 years of time in the bottle. So I would not put this on the same pedestal of a CDP. However, this wine has sparked an interest in me, to where I will seek out more offerings from Tablas Creek, and hopefully one day I will be able to do a CDP Vs. New World Rhone post, CHEERS!
