those

who create disharmony in the community

crappy quality doesn't get voted for anyhow, but those people that cant handle different viewpoints and downvote?

a cancer

DV needs to be restricted solely to spam, plagiarism, and illegal activity.

"bullying" is handled in the tech with mute.

"hate speech", especially "hate speech" supported by empirical evidence is an argument.

if the "hate speech" is wrong, adults will make the counter argument.

"hate speech" that hurts the feelfeelz of midwits can be taken off the midwit's feed by mute.

only a subhuman WHO is unable to do those two simple actions resort to the DV.

@trostparadox's proposal recommendation is available for review and scrutiny. It's got some interesting proposals that significantly change the way DV's get handled.

The fraud you mentioned gets DV'd. No question about that, however, you have to list the reasoning for the DV. DV's I apply, for instance regarding plagiarism, get's a link to the original source at a minimum.

All other DV's are pretty much by consensus. Leaders have to agree to DV before applying it. I don't know if another tribe has done it this way. I welcome your review and opinion on his recommendation.

A very valid constructive criticism... But that does not apply to the contest, @stevescoins. If you want to participate, just say a trait (one word) that you find troubling or that you don't like to see in writers who cause problems in the community.

I would never kick a user out of the community for writers who don't write well or who create disharmony in the community. This platform should be decentralized and everyone should be free to voice their thoughts in what ever way suits them. If that is poor writing (which some times mine falls into) or create disharmony by stating their opinions, that is their right.

The technology available allows for the readers to not read the posting and to remove that person from their feeds. I do not agree with or believe in censorship so would never kick someone for either of those two reasons.

BTW - thanks for the tokens. Tied for third, not bad. LOL

I agree with you, @darmst5339... However, the situation proposed in this contest is hypothetical. So, if you want to participate, just say a trait (one word) that you find troubling or that you don't like to see in writers who cause problems in the community.

I would want to see more people getting along despite the difference in views. I believe one should stride to bridge that gap of understanding so that we may all move on and learn something new.

as @stevescoins just mentioned here,

only a subhuman WHO is unable to do those two simple actions resort to the DV.

the fact that DV is what they all can do I can only imagine what a conversation might look like when confronted face to face with someone of that caliber.

untitled.gif

Confronted with arrogance in combination of fear and cognitive dissonance, etc, may turn violent. Henceforth over the safety of spilling out whats on your mind I find social media platforms a safer place to say whatever I want. So long as my identity is protected. If people DV me because of their opinion and not for "price adjustments"(I'm still skeptical about that claim), rather than just ignore or mute me and not vote up, I think that would be a safer deal either way instead of getting a punch to the face just because of a difference of opinion or standpoint.

arrogance (n.)
"a manifest feeling of superiority of one's worth or importance, combined with contempt of others," c. 1300, from Old French arrogance (12c.), from Latin arrogantia "presumption, pride, haughtiness," abstract noun from arrogantem (nominative arrogans) "assuming, overbearing, insolent," present participle of arrogare "to claim for oneself, assume,"
Source: type in the word in the search bar

As one can see here, it is composed of negativity. Assuming makes an ass out of both parties. Pride is only useful as far as there is evidence to back up the workings, but can also get in the way, if not checked, from attaining new perspectives. The problem I have seen with some individuals here is, that despite one writes a mean post, when confronted with evidence to contradict the claims, they still rather cling to their pride and not change their ideals. Rather they hide from the questions and the debate and misconstrue the words of the counter party to better "establish" their false ideals.

This can lead to lying about themselves to not "look silly or stupid" but do so anyways because of, whats the word of the day?

Anyways, that's the trait I find most disharmonious to any community and I hope someone will point it out to me with "empirical evidence" if I can caught in that cycle.

I have been on that end before and its a trait I have been trying to get rid of from my life.

Arrogance

@wiseagent ,I really don't get this right I guess ,just want to ask that this contest is it all about kicking users out of the POB community due to bad post or any form of plagiarism

Hi, @pthker2010.

The contest won't kick anyone out of the community, it's just a hypothetical situation. All you have to do is write one word that represents a negative trait in the way writers who don't write well or who cause problems in the community.

Simple as that.

I find disingenuity an issue. We see a fair few people who are disingenuous on this platform, insincere in their comments on posts, especially on posts of authors with high voting power. Claiming to be a big fan, begging for upvotes or delegations after trying unsuccessfully to butter up the very suspecting victim with false compliments. Not saying the authors are not deserving of credit or praise, just that false adoration of those authors, in an attempt to ply some POB turns me off. If you want to be part of a community, BE part of that community. Put in the effort and at the very least engage meaningfully with your peers. You may just learn something along the way and grow from the experience.

I would never kick a user out of the community for poor or offensive writing. I think everyone is allowed to write as they wish and we should have the brains to ignore poor writing as curators.

It's not grammar and spelling that turns me off. I like new ways of spelling words and experimenting with English. I used words in the last WOTW contest that don't exist in the dictionary like chunkage and clumpage. These words don't really exist in the English language but are words that I use colloquially. So I couldn't kick someone out for spelling problems. Grammar is also an issue but many times I prefer to use my own grammar like, "Who you be?"

But what makes it most difficult for me to read a post in the community is when the author doesn't know what they are talking about. After reading a few lines it is so esoteric or so twisted that the post really has no point at all. Sometimes that could be fun like a post of MEMEs or a circular argument but when I finish reading the post and I look at words and paragraphs I just read and I still don't know the writer's point of view then I'm puzzled. It makes me think those paragraphs were copied and summarized or maybe translated through AI. In that case it is really important to provide the original language.

When it comes down to it I'm not kicking anyone out, even for circular arguments like the one I am making now. But try to make some point in your post or one day somebody may kick you out.^^
