3. Alan Shearer vs. Man City - 10.52 seconds

In front of a packed out St James' Park, Alan Shearer scored one of his 260 career league
goals in 10.52 seconds from kickoff in a 2-0 win over Man City in 2003. Shearer was intense straight out of the blocks. After receiving a back-pass from the kickoff, City keeper Carlo Nash's first touch was too heavy.

Shearer sprinted toward Nash and his panicky clearance was charged down by Shearer. The ball sat up nicely and Shearer slotted the ball in the back of the net after 10.52 seconds, then wheeling away and celebrating with his famous one arm celebration. Newcastle would finish the season in third and quality for the Champions League. City also qualified for Europe with a ninth place finish good enough for a UEFA Cup spot.

2. Ledley King vs. Bradford City - 9.82 seconds

A career centre-back, Ledley King surprisingly took a kick-off against Bradford City in 2000. Even more bewildering was that he didn't track back, instead moving forward which is unorthodox for a defender. King snatched onto a header, hit a 30-yard shot after a couple touches, his shot took a huge deflection and fizzled past a flat footed Matt Clarke in goal.

The goal was King's first Premier League goal in just his eighth game in a career that spanned 268 games as a one club player. Despite the 9.82-second goal, the match finished 3-3. Tottenham would end the season in 12th and unfortunately for Bradford, they'd finish at the foot of the table, relegated to the English Championship after picking up only five wins.

1. Shane Long vs. Watford - 7.69 seconds

The fastest goal in Premier League history was scored in 7.69 seconds by Southampton and Irish striker Shane Long in 2019. His never-say-die attitude was in full show, as he charged down Watford defender Craig Cathcart's first pass of the game following the kickoff. Upon the rebound, Long took a couple of touches before a clever and composed finish over the top of Ben Foster, stunning the Watford home crowd.

Long's chip was quick enough to knock off Ledley King's 18-year old record to become the quickest goal in EPL history. Despite his effort, Watford would shock Southampton with a last minute equaliser to snatch a 1-all draw. Southampton would end up finishing the season in 16th place. Watford exceeded all preseason expectations by finishing in 11th.

Hi, greetings friend,
Nice. So it's Shane Long? I see. You were spot on with the "never-say-die" thing. Typical Shane Long,so full of running. Does he run for a living?🙂

Please how do you guys do a link(like "here" in your first paragraph before the picture). Thanks.

I invite you and friends to see my latest on Balotelli, a resurrection of some sorts: https://peakd.com/hive-150329/@ogeewitty/balo-is-back

It was good to see certain players leave their print in history via other means than scoring a lot or playing a certain style.
