Am I Doomed?

Movies tend to be a very nice way to discover new music and thanks to applications like shazam, one can easily search for a song title when they come across a song they like. That was the case with Moses Sumney's 'Doomed' for me.

I was watching Mother/Android on Netflix when I heard this song play in a very emotional scene. A mother was writing a letter to her baby as she was about giving him away. In the letter, she wrote about the life she imagined they had, one where they were a happy, complete family and her baby would grow up to be a happy, loved child.

She wasn't done writing when she was brought back to reality and asked to quickly sign the form she was given. The song continued playing as she gave her baby to be taken away from the destructive post-apocalyptic world to somewhere safer.

I cried so much watching this and the song was the perfect soundtrack to add a ripple effect that drained me of my tears.

Doomed is the lead single of Moses Sumney's 2017 debut album, Aromanticism. It is a very deep song and looking at the lyrics, you can see it's poetry. I love everything about this song and how much of a reflective piece it is. It reflects on love or rather, the lack of it and how one's existence is greatly hinged on love.

I think Sumney's vocals are out of this world, so soothing and packed with emotion. I hadn't known him before this song but now I feel like I know him so well after listening to the rest of the album. Doomed has been on repeat for days now and has become one of my favourite songs already.

Here's the youtube music link.

Yes, that part was emotional. I felt bad when I heard them say that they could only take the child. And the boyfriend was on wheelchair so I felt pity for her

Wow, although I have not heard about him before but your vivid description is enough for me to go and start looking for the song.

Thanks for sharing.

Sometimes I wish there was an app where we could all share our different playlists of songs . I’m certain one will be surprised of how many good music one hasn’t heard of .
