A Dual Crochet Project.

Hello needlework lover✨

Last month, I made a list of possible crochet items I would like to make before the year runs out. The beautiful thing about crocheting is that there are endless things that could be crocheted and so, one's ‘to crochet list’ can keep growing.

After making this list, I felt like making all the things on the list in the span of one day but when I began making the first item on the list, I realised that as beautiful as the results may be, it takes time to achieve them.

For today, I would be sharing a two in one project I made–arm warmers and a tube top to go with.

Materials Used.

  • Yarns
  • 4.0mm hook
  • Darning needle
  • A pair of scissors
  • Measuring tape
  • Stitch markers

I began with the tube top because I felt this was going to be the easiest part of the whole project. At least it was supposed to be but boy, was I wrong! I do not know if it's because I was watching a movie while making the tube top or because I wasn't observant enough but my lines kept caving as I went on. How hard could it be to repeat the same pattern in a straight line?

I started by making fifty chains plus an extra chain for turning. I worked with half double crochet stitches and for the ribbing, I used single crochet stitches.

I assumed that making the tube top was going to take less than a day. After loosening, starting over, pondering whether or not I made the right choice, loosing and going over again, I finally finished the tube after two days.

The next part of the project was the arm warmer. This is my first time making arm warmers so I wanted everything to go just right.

The arm warmer is divided into three parts; the left arm, right arm and the turtle neck. I started by making the arms.

For the arms, I made a total of one hundred and fifteen beginning chains. For row two, I made half double crochet stitches in the back loop only and single crochet stitches for the ribbings. Until I got my desired width, I kept repeating row two.

After making the two arms, I closed up the ends of the arms remaining about seven inches from the top. Then, I went ahead to connect the arms both at the back panel and at the front panel.

After both arms were connected and secured, I began making the turtleneck part using single crochet stitches. Slip stitches would have been ideal but I'm not a big fan of slip stitches; I hope I'm not the only one. A few hours later, I was done and I couldn't believe it.

This whole project took about four days to complete and in these days, I cannot count the number of times I almost gave up. However, I kept remembering @doreenarch saying “get your lazy a*se up and don't be like every other crocheter who has unfinished jobs.” Yes, she said that to me😂. It may marvel you to know that she was the first person to see the project once I was done.

I cannot say how happy I am about the finished product. I have a tube top that can be worn on every other day and then an arm warmer in preparation for the cold days.

What do you think of the outcome? Do you love it as much as I do? Is there anything you would have liked me to do differently? I would love to hear your views.

Love🤍

Hello there, @wongi. 😊

The beautiful thing about crocheting is that there are endless things that could be crocheted, and so one's ‘to crochet list’ can keep growing.

Definitely yes, and I have lots and lots of screenshots on my phone with all the crochet inspiration I find on social media every day. They keep on growing in numbers, yet I feel like I am still stuck with the old projects. 😅🤣

As for your project, it looked great, dear. 😍 Specially when you wear it. You look good in that tube with the warmer. It's also one of the dream projects that I wanted to make. But as of now, I still have lots of things to prioritize.

Anyway, thanks for sharing your project here. And God bless you. 😊
