A Hobby Like No Other

avatar

Leisure time is something that many people don't have the liberty to witness often and as such, it has to be spent in the best possible way whenever it comes. To answer the prompt for this week:

How do you spend your leisure time? What do you like to do? :)

The first thing that came to mind when I saw this prompt was sleep. Sleeping would be the best thing to do if I had free time but that isn't exactly a hobby:-).

Judging from the dictionary definition of a hobby being an activity one does regularly in ones leisure time for pleasure; I can safely conclude that my hobby is listening to music

I've always loved listening to music for as long as I can remember. To me, leisure time is a period for unwinding. A period to relax and do something you love to do and listening to music is that thing for me.

In general, I love songs that are soothing and calming as they help with the task of unwinding. Let me paint a picture for you

On days when you get back from work and you had a very stressful day. Your foot hurts and your body aches. You freshen up, get something to eat and turn on your music player as you lay down on your bed, listening to calm songs. You flow with the music and the music flows through you. In a matter of minutes, you feel very relaxed

Irrespective of how people want to look at it, music has a lot of benefits:

  • It enhances relaxation.
  • It boosts creativity.
  • It reduces stress
  • It enhances your mood
  • Some people use music to read.

The list goes on. Everyone has their different taste in music and that's what works for them.

One way the people around me know that I'm not so busy is when my earpods are in my ears. To them, that's a clear indication that I'm relaxing.

There are other things that I love doing for fun like cleaning, photography, and taking random evening walks but music always accompanies these other hobbies and as such, it tops the list.

How about you? What are those things you do to derive pleasure and relaxation? I'd love to hear about them.

This is my response to @ecency-star's prompt. You can check out the contest here

Thank you for your time

With love, wongi ✨

I also love to sleep in my free time. Listening music is your hobby but I hardly listen music. It's not because I don't like it. Why I don't listen music generally is still unknown to me..

I really envy people who can just lie down and fall asleep in the middle of the day, or close their eyes and nap on the train or bus or in front of the TV.

Where do you nap most often? Do you have a favourite spot? A favourite armchair, couch?

To sleep during the day I have to have a sleepless night, I have no idea how people just casually naps :)

Music, and it doesn't matter if it's classical or even mild ambient - it doesn't help me sleep at all. For sleep I need a dark room and complete silence.
The ticking of the clock is my archenemy!

I'm one of those people that actually sleep whenever I want to. Even if I just woke up an hour or two earlier, I could always go back to sleep if I so please😅. I just close my eyes and in less than twenty minutes (I timed myself one time) I'm in the dream world, my mattress helps a lot too.

This is me guessing that your room has no wall clocks😂

That's actually true hey. Some people barely have leisure time and even if they do their brain would still be actively working from all the stress. So if they get to listen to the right music at the right time it can help to relax.

In a nutshell you use music in everything even to focus especially while writing your content (algorithm from your previous posts lol), relax, sleep, de-stress and to Hobby lol.

So what's your top 3 in your playlist?

Cool choices 😎.
I didn't know Magixx - hmm All over is a nice song. I can't keep still and calm listening to it so that's definitely going to my cardio exercise playlist 😅
