Abundance of Californium (2.7 billion dollars per 100grams) in Borno State, Nigeria

It took me a while to wrap up my research and come up with this article. The distraction was massive and I was beginning to think that mother nature didn't want me to make this post.

Moving on, my days of research was about a radioactive yet solid element, #californium, with the symbol cf and atomic number 98. While studying the periodic table, I kept wondering about the actinides. How they look, their uses and so on. Frankly, I thought that most of them are totally out of reach, but I was wrong.

Californium does not occur naturally on Earth. All that there now is has been synthesised, but this element was produced in the past when several nuclear reactors were in operation 2 billion years ago in Africa.

Hold up! In where? Africa! closer than I thought. I keep screaming about how blessed Africans are, yet blinded. This precious stone is in a bountiful amount in Borno state, Nigeria.

The only reason I could suggest that this highly lucrative and precious element should be kept in the dark is because of how highly lethal it is, but apart from that, this could change the economy Nigerians are screaming about.

The use of californium is very numerous. It is used to cure certain cervical and brain cancers that other radiation therapy could not solve. Used as a detector of gold and silver ores. Used to identify water and oil layers in oil wells. Used to detect metal fatigue in aeroplanes, etc.

As of 2019, it cost $2.7 billion dollars per 100 grams of CF. This price is known because our 'government' has been actively exchanging it.

The greed of the people won't let us make good use of this precious stone hence the uproar of the popular Boko Haram movement especially in Borno state. Nigerians killing fellow Nigerians, all for what? The more reason we should be careful while picking those who govern us.

If this precious stone gets into the hands of a good president, we would see the changes ourselves. Need I explain what would happen if it gets into the wrong hands….chaos.
