DIY Wall Decor.

Hello Hello Diy Lovers✨

It's been a minute since my last diy project and all I can say is that I have dearly missed being in touch with my creative side.

However, the idea to make a wall hanging came to mind and I decided to hop on it. I currently have a wall hanging decoration in my room but I thought it's high time I replaced it with something more intriguing.

I would also like to add that this project was made entirely from waste materials. This just makes it even more special–turning waste to something beautiful.

Materials Used.

  • Scrap yarn
  • A pair of scissors
  • Old office files
  • A cutter
  • Glue
  • A pencil

Procedure.

After gathering all the necessary items I would need to make this project, I started by drawing out a heart shape on the old office flat files.

IMG_20240330_140919_991~2.jpg

After drawing out the hearts, I went ahead to carve the shapes out. After carving out the bigger shape, I went ahead to carve out the inner heart; giving me a hollow heart shape

IMG_20240330_174012_048~2.jpg

After I finished carving out the shapes, I started going around the shape with my scrap yarn. This yarn remained from one crochet project I made a few months ago and I always wondered what I was going to use the scrap yarn for. I guess I finally got my answer.

Going around a heart shape with yarn takes precision and time. The more complex the shape is, the harder it gets to go round it.

IMG_20240331_160937_800~2.jpg

It took me approximately 30 minutes to go round each heart shape. After 2 hours, I finally finished with the four heart shapes and it was time to make other parts of the project.

IMG_20240331_194344_324~2.jpg

The next part I made was the ruffle hangers. To make them, I went around a credit card twenty times with the yarn. After that, I tied the tip to secure, went round the top with a yarn before tying and cutting off. Finally, I opened up the other end and trimmed it to ensure that all the yarns were in the same line.

After this, I added strings which I would attach to the heart shapes

IMG_20240331_200152_398~2.jpg

The next thing I made was the flower. For the flower, I wound the wool fifteen times round my index and middle fingers. I went ahead to fasten the end. This gave me a mini puff

IMG_20240331_200826_046~2.jpg

After making five puffs, I put a string through all the puffs and pulled them together. With the same string, I added a button to the centre of the puff flower and fastened off.

IMG_20240331_203306_865~2.jpg
The final phase was the coupling phase. I placed the hollow hearts properly, attached the ruffle hangers, placed the flower at the centre and ensured they remained there with the help of the glue.

IMG_20240331_203259_391~2.jpg

The final result looks amazing and is going up on my room wall first thing tomorrow morning. I left this project on a table to ensure that the glue dries off properly to prevent any mishaps.

With that, I came to the end of this adventure. What do you think of the wall hanging made of waste materials?

Such an amazing handicraft♥️ you can use it as one of your source of income. I always try sewing by the use of yarn but I think it takes time and effort and strategic ways to create an incredible artwork, like yours♥️ Thank you for sharing your DIY's🥰

It sure takes a whole lot of time to come up with crafts but unfortunately, I haven't monetized my crafts yet.

I'm glad you like how this turned out 😊😊

You're so creative! I used to do all that until they accumulate dust and I rarely craft anything these days 😂

😂

This is absolutely true. Sometimes, the crafts can accumulate and take up so much space. Sometimes I get rid of the old ones or I give it to people who show interest.

You are really becoming a PRO at DIY, Wongi! So, when are we opening an online DIY shop? Oh, maybe we can start taking video clips, and use a voice-over to create a video on how to do MOST OF YOUR DIY.

We can open a collaborative account to post that on 3Speak and YouTube? As the head of your marketing team, I think we are ready to make money now, Wongi!😄

The very able head of my marketing team🤭. I already love your idea and making money from crafts is never a bad idea. The problem now is where you start from😔

Haha so that's a sign that I'm hired😅.

Can start by also taking video clip when you take each pictures for content and save them too.

Then try some video editing later. The voice over will read the written content. ...there are plenty apps to do voice over..💭🤔

Oh yes...you've been hired for months now😅

I like how fast you mind is working🤭. I will try making some video clips during the process of my next craft and see where it leads.
