Even In The Face Of Death

Hello everyone. It's yet another weekend and as usual @galenkp has unfailingly made our work easier by providing a variety of amazing prompts to choose from.

I'd be responding to the very first prompt

Euthanasia, ending the life of an ill human to limit suffering, is a very contentious issue. What are your thoughts? Talk about being for or against it and the reasons you feel that way. Is there a valid use-case and if so, why? Do a post of at least 300 words and use photos you took if you can.

Euthanasia: injecting a patient with a lethal dose of drugs, causing a painless death

Recently, I watched the movie "Blood" and there was a terminally ill patient who was diagnosed with bone cancer. She asked the nurse in charge of her to end her life and the rest was history. At the moment, it dawned on me that my steadfast passion to become a nurse would eventually lead to this in one way or another. If I was in this situation, what would I do? I was thrown into an abyss of thoughts.

I Stand Against It

Let me rephrase that a bit, "I vehemently and strongly stand against it". Irrespective of which angle I'm looking from, it still balls down to murder! Consensual or not. I wouldn't spend roughly five years in school and a few other years gathering knowledge about nursing science only to become a murderer. The first aim of a medical practitioner is to save lives (you took an oath) and you must do just that.

Disclaimer: If it was something that was right, then it would be legal. Passive euthanasia is legal but active euthanasia isn't.

Irrespective of how chronic a person's disease is or the number of days one has to live, euthanasia shouldn't be an option. I think that one's last days on earth should be spent reflecting. Even if you have no family members, there's still hope.

This is my little contribution to the 144th week of the weekend engagement prompt which can be found here.

The pictures above are my property and were taken with my mobile device

With love, wongi ✨

I love your view on the topic and I to check what passive and active Euthanasia are first.

The two actually ends up as assisted death and I think the means is what makes the difference. In some cases, the patient might take even weeks before death and the pain has become really unbearable for them so they opt in for that to end everything.

I don't think there is anything wrong with that if it's the patient's decision.

passive and active Euthanasia are first.

The passive euthanasia is when the patient is removed from life support. No more oxygen and other things. But the active euthanasia is when the patient is injected with lethal drugs to hasten their death.

I don't think there is anything wrong with that if it's the patient's decision.

More often than not, it's always the patient's decision yet, it's still not legal. There are even cases where the diagnosis from the doctors are wrong but the patient has already been placed on lethal drugs.

Doctors normally medicate with morphine or similar right toward the end when the battle has been fought, would that day, or hour earlier make any difference?

I guess this could make a little difference but it won't be really necessary. We could always allow nature to do it's work ..

Thank you very much for stopping by dear ✨

Although I'm not into the medical field...but the thought of taking someone's life scares me.
There was a time I had accident and two victims that we collided were heavily injured...all my prayer was for them no to die even though they were at fault.

But also, I think those in medical fields adopt a special have their hearts made for it.🙇

Oh well, what can I say. Some of them make up their minds but they need to be extremely careful while doing such.

Thank you for stopping by dear ✨

Wow okay. I just learned two things about you.
First you're either a student nurse or a real nurse that studied in the university! We have that in common, nice to meet you.

Second thing is your stance on euthanasia. Our opinions are different on this one. I believe that euthanasia should be given to patients in dire need of it. It's easy to say no euthanasia under any circumstance but life is not black and white. There is a lot of grey area here.
What if the person is in visibly deep pain, the kind that you would not wish on your greatest enemy. And they are receiving palliative treatment, meaning their case is doomed. They are going to die either ways.

It is a difficult situation to be in for both the patient and the health professional but sometimes the job requires us to do things against our own reservations.
Those are my thoughts though.

Nice point of view!

Oh yes dear, I'm a student nurse too. Nice to meet you too😅

Well, extreme cases call for extreme measures. If it gets to a point where the pain is excruciatingly unbearable, then I guess I may reconsider. But either ways, it's still risky.

Thank you for dropping an amazing comment lovely, I really appreciate 🤗✨

I don't know if I'm with you on this one Sha best....but I know if I saw my family member suffering and he or she begs me to just take the pain away, I don't know if I'll refuse. But I get your views on it too. Speaking with so much venom as a nurse in the making. Nice one.😂🌺❤️
