Needleworkyourpet||A Late Baby Shower Present.
Hello hello needleworkmonday community ✨
I must admit that the #needleworkyourpet contest actually came at a perfect time. For weeks, I had been thinking of the perfect baby shower present for one of my cats who was heavily pregnant. It's amusing how full and bloated pregnancy can make cats look.
Around September last year, I got two kittens and I refused to give them permanent names. Why? Because I had given all the previous kittens before them feminine names and these kittens usually turned out to be male. Imagine calling a male cat Daisy. I do not know how to tell a female kitten from a male kitten until they start developing. And honestly, if I had given this set of cats names, I would have been wrong, again! Because my subconscious just thought that my white cat would be female and the little tigress would be male.Hehe.
Pets bring a different kind of joy to our lives and I do not mind having them around. When I got this set of cats, I thought they would turn into street cats after six to eight just like the other male cats did but I was wrong. It's been a year plus and counting and my babies are still home. Yin and yang.
I remember vividly how tensed I was the first time Lucy(the female cat) gave birth. It was her first pregnancy and so she was meowing all day long. I didn't know what to do or how to handle the situation so I just sat there, watching he give birth and praying that she was okay😅. Unfortunately, we lost all the kittens due to a disease breakout and I was really sad.
That sadness was wiped away when I noticed that she was pregnant once again. Cat pregnancies take about two months and guess who maxed out her two months yesterday? Yes, you're right. Lucy. She gave birth to two pretty kittens and I can't be more happy.
Since I didn't get to give her a baby shower present, I made a safe delivery present for her–a crochet pet collar– and she loved it so much.
Putting the crochet pet collar on her neck wasn't the problem. The problem was getting her to stand for some pictures. I literally had to go on my knees to get some pictures because she wouldn't stand still. It's either her birth hormones were making her act up or she liked the collar too much and wanted to show it off. Either way, I managed to get some pictures. Doesn't she just look adorable.
For this crochet pet collar, I used two distinct colours; yello and brown. I picked the yellow because I wanted the collar to match with something else on her body and it turns out that her eyes are a beautiful hybrid of green and yellow.
I made a chain of forty-seven stitches and then went ahead to make forty-five double crochet stitches. This gave me the base of the crochet collar. Since I was going for something a bit alluring, I decided to use this leaf-like pattern for the rest of the collar. I made two little straps with ball points for fastening the collar to her neck. It is important to prevent tying the collar too tight to prevent suffocating them.
With that, I was done with the crochet pet collar which made Lucy look like a sunflower 😄. I'm stoked at the fact that I'm now a pet grandmother. I guess I'd be making crochet kitty toys soon enough.
I enjoyed making every bit of this project and thanks to the needlework Monday community, Lucy got a crochet present😊
Until next time, may your Monday be filled with beauty and joy.
This is my entry into the needlework your pet contest. All images used belong to me and were taken with my mobile device except stated otherwise.

needlework is a thing which I always try to skip because I know nothing and I feel it is boring in my case. It takes a good amount of time.
The kitten is looking cute.
By the way, I couldn't see the video. It's showing "This video is no longer available."
Needlework can be fun, it's just best when you find something that you like doing the most😇
I'm trying to rectify the vide issue,I hope it can be solved.
Cutie ❤️😍
Oh makes me remembered about my late cat 🥲
Hmm, I can not see your video anyway
Late cat🥺, what happened to it?
I do not know where the video went:(. Is there any way I can fix it?
Maybe you can check your studio video on your 3speak channel
This pet collar is so adorable and the k Goodness your cat allowed you to take some shots.
I love this project and contest so much, it makes us remember that our pets shouldn't be left out.
You're right dearest. Our pets should also share a part in the needlework😊

This is nice. Honestly the problem is to take the pictures.
I can imagine how you felt during her first pregnancy but I’m glad she gave birth to two kittens.
I love the colour, just like you’ve said, it matches her skin.
You can’t differentiate between the male and female? Wow. Guess I don’t really know much about cats.
Love it, look how beautiful it looks on her. Welldone
Thank you very much dearest. And yes, it can get really hard to differentiate the make from the female 🤧
Your cat is very beautiful and the yellow color looks perfect on her, the necklace turned out beautifully, they are very funny when it comes to putting clothes on them, I can imagine how funny she behaved, I wish you good luck in the Contest

I think we have the same cat 🤭. How nice it is to see her in this outfit and I'm glad her babies are okay. It's like a little cat sunflower. Great idea, thanks for joining the contest ❤️.
I couldn't see the video either but the photos are nice anyway.
