Margaux|| Having A Smart House For A Change.

I bet that if we were all given the opportunity to own a smart house, over fifty percent of the people would whole-heartedly agree. I mean, who wouldn't want to have a house that can do every single thing for them? Prepare your bathtub, play music, serve you your favourite dish, do the laundry..name it. It would be a really hard offer to turn down.

I,for one, would not really like such a building because I would feel insecure. What if the AI does this or does that with my information. I'm one very suspicious person especially when it involves AI. But we're not here to discuss that today:).

Today, I would be reviewing the movie Margaux. My first impression about the movie was that of confusion. The title of the movie didn't even make room for me to guess its content. It was my first time seeing and hearing the word 'margaux'. With that, I commenced watching the movie with utter enthusiasm.

About The Movie.

A group of college friends decided to do something fun for their weekend. One of the friends thought of a super idea–spending the weekend in a smart house. In yearning, they all began their journey to the rented smart house.

Things were going very well till they weren't anymore. The weekend becomes very fast paced and a series of activities start to unfold. The college friends who didn't even know what was going on were now faced with the responsibility of surviving or die trying.

The movie is a thriller drama crime horror film. It was released on the 9th of September 2022(look who is a year old) and directed by Steven C. Miller.

Cast

Madison Pettis as Hannah

Hannah is the smart college student who was coincidentally in the programming field. She wasn't really the outgoing type and her social media absence was proof. Visiting a smart house was intriguing but she traded with caution.

Being the most computer-language inclined amongst the pack, she saw and perceived things differently. As much as the smart house was intriguing, it was also an opportunity for her to put her knowledge to good use.

Phoebe Miu as Kayla

Kayla was Devon's girlfriend and a romantic. She looked forward to spending the weekend with her friends but most especially with her boyfriend.

Kayla was a really outspoken character who had a free spirit. She acted out her role beautifully.

Jedidiah Goodcare as Drew

Drew was the friend in the pack that had the genius idea of spending the weekend in a smart house. He had ulterior motives(good ones) as to why he chose to spend the weekend there but not all plans always work out as they should.

Vanessa Morgan as Lexi

20230910_162550_0000.png

Her name reminds me of one of my good friends who also bears the name. Lexi was Drew's active girlfriend but she was a social media freak. She didn't go anywhere without taking pictures, making videos, or doing live streams.

Lexi acted the role of a college kid/social media influencer who wanted to be perfect. We all know that people who act this way are always far from perfect.

Jordan Buhat as Devon

20230910_162252_0000.png

Devon was the cool kid in the pack. He was reserved and not so loud. I feel like he literally used to count his words. Devon was in a relationship with Kayla. Devon and Kayla made love look so beautiful.

Susan Bennett as Margaux

Margaux was a smart house. She ensured that the college kids who visited had a swell time. She was there at their beck and call. She could easily pass for a mother; doing all the duties right from cooking, to providing your favourite thing in the world.

However, Margaux was a super advanced smart house who was learning continuously and using the knowledge to her advantage.

My Opinion

Once the movie began, I knew I was watching the right movie. The thrill started from the very first scene. It was just so action-packed. I have seen so many AI movies and I felt like Margaux was going to follow the same storyline but I was wrong! I like it whenever I'm wrong at predicting a movie because that is what makes the movie interesting.

For a moment, I wondered what the director was up to. What did he have to direct for an hour and forty minutes about AI? In the end, I got my answer. The ending was totally unexpected for me. I pictured an ending after spend an hour on the screen but again, the ending took me by surprise.

One of my favourite scenes was the part towards the ending where Hannah and Drew held hands and walked out of the smart house. The silhouette was just so beautiful. Irrespective of all the turbulence they had just faced, they still held hands. Just beautiful.

Recommendation.

I must say that this was an interesting watch. I enjoyed watching the movie because of the thrills, the suspense and the minor dread. If you would love to see a movie with an unexpected ending and lots of thrills, you should really check Margaux out.
