My Difference.

Whenever I look back at that memory, I can't help but laugh my heart out. Growing up, I was obsessed with fashion but it seems my own fashion always looked hilarious. I would were an orange joggers, orange sweatshirt, white and orange sneakers, powder my face and just sit at home.

I was literally never caught unfresh. I had nothing else to do than go to school and church but my clothes were numerous. Most of them were hand me downs that I really loved.

This day came and my mom and I were to travel to the east. White was my favorite color at the time and the kids were told to choose an attire because it was going to be a mini-carnival.

I and another of my friends went for white. No other kid went for white. As a child, I would let that affect me but the reverse was the case. I felt so different and confident.

White shirt, white baggy pants, white Jordans and the knee length whit sock. I was walking around enjoying tye mini carnival when a lady called my friend and I.

She praised us for standing out. She used our faces as face paint models and gave us white wings to top up our show. I felt on top of the world already. We were the only two kids with the wings and we now became the envy of every other kid.

I enjoyed the rest of the day and I didn't want to take anything away from my body. I think I slept that night with my complete attire but woke up in my pajamas.

That particular event had boosted my self esteem and confidence and from that day, I had loved being peculiar and different in an acceptable way of course.

Little experience we face daily make or mar us. I always take my experiences in the positive way and trust me, it has been worth it.

With love, wongi ✨
