Opportunities Under The Spotlight.

Sometimes,I feel that movie producers choose really amazing songs to feature in their movies and more often than not, songs that are actually sung by the characters turn out pretty well. If I'm being honest, a great proportion of songs that I know today were either heard from movies or randomly. I do not actually sit back to search for songs because where would I even start from?

On this note, an amazing song I fell in love with some time back was played again today and I just couldn't wait to share it with everyone. One thing that makes songs stand out for me are the lyrics; the message embedded in the lyrics. If I resonate with the message, then that song is classified as good for me. However, everyone has their personal preferences.

The song Opportunity by Annie effortlessly made its way to my list of "good songs" after hearing it for the first time. This is because the song was good! Although it isn't extended and the lyrics are not so sophisticated, it is still a really nice song to listen to.

I grew up hearing the saying "opportunities come but once" and so automatically, I learnt to grab on these opportunities whenever I come in contact with them. The problem however, is when one cannot recognize the opportunity presenting itself to them. It's human nature to randomise things and see many things as "normal".

I've seen many people weep when they miss an opportunity. The realisation always comes after the opportunity is gone. The fun part about opportunities is that it manifests in different ways. It could be from a friend, from a partner, from a random stranger, even from the television. People do not take advantage of these opportunities because they feel like it would wait for them or maybe they feel like they aren't deserving of the opportunity.

After listening to this song, I kept singing it everyday. I didn't get opportunities after hearing the song or maybe I was too blind to notice them but I was still so elated to sing the song.

"Now look at me and this opportunity, standing right in front of me"

For some reason, I feel like opportunities always glare at us till they are gone. The regret that comes with missed opportunities is a really intense one. Believe me when I say that living in regret isn't a great feeling. At all!

I have had my fair share of missed and mis-used opportunities and till date, I can't help but imagine what would have become of me if I actually grabbed these opportunities. From experience, another major reason why people ignore the opportunity given to them is fear. Fear of the unknown. Fear of what would be or what wouldn't be.

I learnt the hard way that we should always grab on opportunities that we are certain we're okay with. It's not a matter of jumping on any train with opportunities written on it but it's a matter of jumping on specific trains that you're comfortable with.

I'm certain we all have a story or two about missed opportunities or properly used opportunities. If you are willing to share, I would be more than elated to listen. But in the meantime, do not misuse or ignore glaring opportunities.

Love, Wongi ✨

Fear limits us from grabbing certain opportunities, this song is so soothing to the ear by the way.

This song is pleasant to the ears and it makes lots of sense. If we are able to identify each opportunity that comes our way then I believe we won't miss any opportunity at all. Sometimes it is ignorant and fear that makes us miss so many opportunities.
