Back again with me @workaholic666 at StemSocial which discusses Science and knowledge related to it. In this post, I will discuss the eighth of the nine essential amino acids, you guys can read more about them in my previous post about the types and uses of essential amino acids.

About Phenylalanine

Phenylalanine is an essential amino acid that is important for the human body because it can help build proteins and produce major neurotransmitters like dopamine, epinephrine and norepinephrine. In addition, phenylalanine also has several important uses for human health.

Phenylalanine can help improve concentration and memory. Some research suggests that phenylalanine supplements may help improve mental performance in people suffering from depression and anxiety. In addition, phenylalanine can also help improve learning and memory abilities, so it is often used in supplements to improve brain performance.

Phenylalanine can also help increase the production of thyroid hormones, which have an important function in regulating metabolism and growth. Thyroid hormones are vital for human health, and a lack of these hormones can lead to various health problems like fatigue, weight loss, and mental disorders.

However, keep in mind that the consumption of phenylalanine must be carefully monitored, especially for those who have certain medical conditions or are currently taking certain medicines.

For example, people with phenylketonuria, a condition that prevents them from properly metabolizing phenylalanine, should limit their intake of these amino acids because the buildup of phenylalanine can cause brain damage and developmental problems. When there is an excessive increase in consumption of phenylalanine, the body can convert it into phenylpyruvic and phenylacetic acids, which can then increase the risk of health problems like liver and kidney damage.

Conclusion

Phenylalanine is an essential nutrient that the human body needs to build protein and produce neurotransmitters. However, excessive consumption can be a problem and must be carefully monitored, especially for those who have certain medical conditions or currently taking certain medications. By consuming phenylalanine in the right amount, we can get its benefits without harming our health.
