Monsoon Flooding In Thailand: Now it's Getting Scary!

The photo below is not me, but it really gives you an idea of when I took a wrong turn and tested my luck going upstream on a flooded road. I didn't know what I was getting into but I misjudged driving through the water with my girlfriend on my bike too. You see how this guys feet are up, we were doing that with the water well up over where your feet would normally go. My bikes motor could barely push the bike though the water and I'm lucky the bike didn't flood and conk out, or worse we get washed away. We made it to the other side, but I almost had a major problem. Things were sketchy all day, but that was my first ten minutes out, so I learned quickly this was no joke. I certainly did not take more chances like that but instead found myself having to turn around many times to "find another way". Now come along and have a closer look at the flooding here in Koh Phangan Thailand.

People got stuck doing exactly this; and testing their luck with how deep the water maybe. Onlookers would watch others go first to see if it was possible to pass.

Even the tree just fell over into the road. I saw many trees down all over the island. With the wind blowing hard and the ground totally saturated, some trees just did not make it.
